Debit card purchase refunded as credit instead

If I purchased an item as a debit transaction (pin was entered), am I required to return it as a credit back as opposed to debit? I do not see this addressed in the Return Policy.

In order to obtain a refund in the same form of payment as your purchase was made, Sephora in-store purchases and Sephora inside JCPenney purchases must be returned with a receipt or gift receipt at a store location. We do not accept mail returns for merchandise originally purchased at a retail location.

If you do not have your receipt, your transaction may be able to be verified if you present your credit or debit card used, or by your Beauty Insider account number. Otherwise, for approved returns without a receipt or where we cannot otherwise verify your purchase, we offer store credit in the form of a Sephora merchandise credit."

You will receive the refund in the same form of payment if it is not past the specified time frame of our return policy and if you have a receipt, or if the purchase can be verified on your account. I hope this clarifies things for you! Additionally, I suggest contacting your Sephora store directly for more information. 🙂

Hi Nikko,

I spoke with my Sephora store and they had said that the cashier has the option for a debit refund, but Sephora wants them to do a credit refund on an originally debit transaction.

Previously, when I've been due a refund on the same debit card, it's been processed as a debit refund and it's there instantly.

Would that be honored for my recent debit purchase that was refunded as credit?
