Credit card hassle

While shopping online i received the promo “open a credit card and get 25% off your first purchase”   
because i was purchasing a fairly expensive item, I applied and was approved for a credit card which I was supposed to be able to use immediately.  When I tried to complete my purchase I received a message that my temporary card could not be used for my purchase. I really didn’t want another credit card, but this is my first time even purchasing from Sephora.  I’m not sure if I’ll be a repeat customer at this point
