2 out of 3 orders got cancelled due to out of stock inventory!??

I placed 3 orders on 7/24/2018 and 2 out of 3 orders got cancelled. I was notified by email today 07/26/2018;

"Your Sephora.com Order #XXXXXXXX has been modified"

"Your Sephora.com Order #XXXXXXXXX has been modified"

 

You have not been charged for these canceled items. We have included the information below so that you can review the details of your order. You can review your order status at any time by visiting My Account.
The following item(s) have been removed from your order due to out of stock inventory:

 

Is order cancellation a common practice for Sephora?

One of the order was placed at noon and the other one at 9pm because it still showed up as in stock item. 

Is Sephora website and warehouse inventory stock system are not linked to be up to date? 

 

I really wanted these products, so I am very frustrated and disapointed =(
