Hydration! Deep condition mask at least once a week. Brigeo has a great hair mask but if you’re not looking to break the bank there are other more affordable conditioner you can get like Botanika Beauty (found online or in sally beauty), L’Oréal also has a good deep conditioner that keeps your hair moisturized during the colder months.

@lt43 My hair isn't curly so I can only speak to the colour protecting side, but I've been dying my hair copper for the past year and multiple times prior to that too. Currently I've been using Wella shampoo & conditioner. In the past I've used Biolage. Both are colour-safe and maintain the colour well.

My hair looked super similar to your daughers when I was younger! I'm so happy you are taking steps to understand how to care for her hair - this is something I really wished my mom would have done. First off, you don't want to shampoo your daughter's hair too frequently, unless it's actually dirty. Over-shampooing curly hair can cause it to dry out pretty quickly. I would shampoo 1-2x a week, and cleanse her hair with a gentle conditionern and water on other days. After you wash out "normal conditioner," apply a quarter-sized amount of leave in conditioner. I really like Shea Moisture's leave in conditioners, because they are are natural, gentle & simple. Curly hair needs lots of moisture!! A super cheap/natural way to moisturize your daughters hair would be to get 100% Aloe Vera Juice (I get mine off Amazon or go to Whole Foods) and put it in a spray bottle with 50% water, 50% aloe juice. After you put in her leave in conditioner, gently squeeze the excess water out of her hair, scrunching upwards as you squeeze water out. (Kind of like an accordion motion). Then, I would repeat that "scrunching" process, with paper towels or a t-shirt. (Towels tend to be too rough on curly hair and can cause frizz). Then, mist her hair with the aloe and gently squeeze upwards, scrunching to encourage her hair to curl up more. I think her hair is straighter on top because of the weight of her hair is dragging/pulling the curl down. If you add a super light/simple curl product to her hair, (I bet there are some kid friendly products out there that offer a light hold), her curls won't stretch out as much on top and her ringlets will be more even. GOOD LUCK!!!

@Esrie hair vitamins actually helped me as well as a supplement called msm. I took it for about 2 months and got 1 inch growth out of it. I kinda fell off the wagon in the last month and noticed that my hair growth was only a quarter of an inch without taking supplements. I'm getting back on track again. As always, consult your doctor first before you take any supplements.

@NessaMGarcia Sorry it hasn't worked for you. What have you used that did work? Verb CC replaced all my stylers (used DevaCurl for a decade), and now I cant find anything that compares to Verb! If your hair isn't getting enough moisture before layering with VCC's dimethicone, that could lead to early frizz. It's also possible that your hair just doesn't like dimethicone.

I bought the product about 2 weeks ago, and I am not sure if it is working for me. I have tried the product by itself and in addition to the Super Cream. Any suggestion will help! The products everyone listed will definitely help the problem but it won’t completely solve it my hair only fully bounced back after I cut out all of the dry damaged bits. I’d recommend getting a small trim if there’s any split ends then growing it out so you can do a big chop.
