Curly hair is confusing

What do y'all like to use for your curly hair to stop frizzing up???

Re: Curly hair is confusing

@Kippys Best advice I’ve gotten: When your hair is wet, the frizz that’s there when you put product on will be the same frizz after the product goes on. Highly recommend a continuous spray bottle, and to keep wetting it as you style.

Here’s my routine: I like to section out my hair after the shower, and pretty much drench each section with the spray bottle before I put in the product. I do a mix of (any) cream and hair oil, then brush the section with a denman brush, and finish with Oribe Curl Gelée for Shine and Definition 8.5 oz/ 250 mL  When the gel is in, I finger coil it.

Once it dries crunchy, put hair oil in again and you have soft shiny curls. If you want more volume in the roots you can use a pick comb and/or dry shampoo in the roots. I sleep in a bonnet and it helps the curls last. I also just find that a good hair oil can help refresh the curls in dry hair if it’s not a wash day.

I use PATTERN by Tracee Ellis Ross Mist Spray Bottle and you can find continuous spray bottles at beauty supply stores too.

My routine is a mix and match of different stylists and videos. Play around to see what works for you! Hope this helps.

@ElodieLasalle, any tips for cutting down on wash day time, aside from just practicing?

@danielledanielle

Finger coiling is the part that takes the longest for me. I’ve had some success skipping that part and “plopping” it up into a t shirt after the gel is in, and sleeping on it like that. I think I just googled “plop curly hair” and watched some different videos. It’s supposed to help get volume into the roots. Another trick I was taught is when you brush the sections, brush it out or up, not straight down. But I like lots of volume so that tip might not be for everyone!

I definitely don’t do the full routine that often. I actually have curly bangs and most days I will just spray the bangs, gel them and finger coil, and put the rest in a bun.

Thank you.  I appreciate the detail and the also, "this is what I also do" 🙌🏽🙏🏽 @ElodieLasalle

To help control frizz in curly hair, try Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner for its excellent hydration and frizz fighting properties, or SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave-In Conditioner for deep moisture and curl definition. Both are great choices for keeping your curls smooth and manageable.

@Kippys try reading the curly girl method by Lorraine Massey.
