Brushing Hair?

Hi everyone! 

I’m a beginner in caring for my wavy/curly hair and have a bit of confusion about brushing hair.

In the past, I was told to not brush hair after showing because it could cause hair loss as I experienced tremendous hair loss.

However now I have been told it’s important to brush curly hair while wet and that it shouldn’t be brushed while dry because curls are not defined in that way.

What would you all recommend for me to do? Also, is there a particular hair brush that might be better? Please let me know and thank you!
