Transfer proof foundation for dry skin

Looking for a transfer proof light/medium coverage foundation for dry skin. The new Fenty hydration foundation is horrible at transferring

Re: Transfer proof foundation for dry skin

If powder is out of the question due to your dry skin, you can try a setting mist such as Urban Decay All Nighter, or those by Morphe, MAC or Skindinavia, etc. There are so many types of setting spray available, from drug store options to high end (some are even moisturizing).

Of course, if you can use powder and it's still not enough, or you can't use as much as you need because it dries you out or looks bad, then there's the option of using a setting spray over the setting powder.

You will do better with the finest mist you can get so no droplets mark your makeup. Hold the bottle a good six inches away and spray in an X, and then a T formation, which should cover everything. You shouldn't have visible droplets disrupting your makeup, but if you do see any, quickly use a pre-dampened beauty sponge, mist it with the spray, then gently tap over and around any messed up areas to reset the foundation.

Or, when applying your foundation, you can experiment with spraying your sponge with the setting mist before, or after dipping into your foundation and tapping both into your skin at the same time. Every time you add more foundation to the sponge, you would also add some mist via the sponge. This would only be worth fooling with, in my opinion, if you don't like misting directly onto you skin, or if it isn't helping for some reason.

You may also want to try misting your face with the setting mist before applying your foundation. You can even spray on top, as well, to sandwich the foundation between the setting mist.

Something that may help would be to start using a gripping primer before your foundation such as Milk Makeup's Hydro Grip Primer. Or, the Korean corset primer J. One Jelly Pack which can still be found for a reasonable price at Costco or elsewhere online (apparently the manufacturer stopped producing it after an argument with the Korean actress who created it, even though it's a hugely popular product world wide). It leaves behind a tacky, slight tightening, firming effect that happens to grip makeup really well and is the only thing that works well for some people.

Combining a gripping primer underneath your foundation, along with a setting powder or spray (or both!), should help prevent any makeup transfer for any skin type. Simply chose moisturizing versions of any of the products to help further combat your dry skin.

Hi @pirouette84,

If you have issues with foundation transferring, I'd recommend investing in a good setting powder that will keep your foundation locked and in place. I recommend the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Longwear Setting Powder Translucent

For foundation, I really like the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Natural Glow Foundation 8.75

Stay Gorgeous,

Penelope
