Thoughts on tinted moisturizers?

Hi! What do you guys think about the Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizers vs. the Nars Just Radiant Tinted Moisturizers? I am in need of a new tinted moisturizer and stuck on which one I should get. It'd be great if you guys could leave your thoughts!

Thanks,

Julia

Re: Thoughts on tinted moisturizers?

@jjulial4 I've never used Laura Mercier but have used NARS Tinted moisturizer and actually really liked it.

@jjulial4 @I have tried and used both but love Nars better for me

Re: Thoughts on tinted moisturizers?

Hi @jjulial4 ! Which one works best for you will depend on your skin tone, type, behavior, and sensitivities. I've used NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Martinique (also tried 3 other shades), Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector Broad Spectrum SPF 30 5W1 Tan , and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - Oil Free Tan . I had a very hard time finding a good color match in the NARS tinted moisturizer: most shades in my shade range have a gold or yellow undertone, so they don't work well for me. Also, my skin hates something in that tinted moisturizer: each time I used it, I wound up itchy and bumpy within 2 hours. That doesn't mean you'll have the same problem, of course.

The Laura Mercier tinted moisturizers work much better for me. I have mostly-dry combo skin, but my entire face likes the oil-free version as much as the skin perfector version. The one I use most often is the skin perfector: it adapts amazingly well to my skin tone and leaves a natural finish, plus I appreciate the higher SPF (though I always wear it over a true sunscreen anyway).

Normally I'd suggest getting samples from your local Sephora to test, but I'm not sure how stores are handling that in our current pandemic situation. (I haven't been inside a Sephora since February or March.) But the Laura Mercier skin perfector comes in a mini size, so you could at least try that one without shelling out for the full size.

Re: Thoughts on tinted moisturizers?

@WinglessOne I use the color Martinique too in that brand.  I've never tried Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer.  I use her hydrating primer and setting powder occasionally.   You've always given great product recommendations, so I will definitely try that one.  Oh my goodness, I feel your pain on finding the correct shades in foundations and powders.  I actually have yellow undertones and most foundations in my shade are too warm.  I've struggled for years and I usually color correct or mix two shades together.   I've finally found two brands that are perfect.  PAT McGRATH - Medium 21 and Huda 430N - Gingerbread.

Re: Thoughts on tinted moisturizers?

Thank you so much @WinglessOne! Have you seen a major difference in the new formula of the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer compared to the old formula? I did have my eyes set on getting the Laura Mercier one but the reviews definitely surprised me!
