Brushes for Pressed Powder Foundation

I'm starting to use pressed powder foundations and my regular foundation brushes dig too much into the product.

Does anyone have any recommendations for brushes to use with pressed foundations?

I like a paddle brush for pressed foundations, the bristles are soft and the foundation goes on evenly.

Re: Brushes for Pressed Powder Foundation

@JewlzRulz I personally prefer fluffier, slightly less dense brushes for pressed powder foundations just so I don't get too much on the brush. I'll pat (rather than swirl) to pick up the powder using the side rather than the top, then pat onto areas that need the most coverage before using the whole brush to blend and buff out. For powders, I like natural vs synthetic but you can't really beat how much easier it is to wash and carry for synthetics.

I'll second @mrsbaine's Wayne Goss recommendation, his brushes are a great introduction to the higher end, hand-made natural hair brushes, and so so so soft. My preference is for #11 vs #13, slightly bigger and fluffier brush head spreads out my foundation quicker and smoother (I am lazy). WG brushes are great for all powder products, easily the favorites in my collection.

For synthetics, I have two real technique powder brushes that look a little comically large, but once again, I am lazy 🙂 The shape and softness of the bristles works perfectly for my application style and I can wash and dry them as much as I want without worrying about damaging the hairs. RT brushes are a great quality for the price and much more affordable (I would be sad if I destroyed one, but no river of tears that would happen with my WG brushes). The gold one is from Ulta, the blue one is direct from the RT website? I think?

I have the #11 too and use it for blush. It's an awesome brush @MissPuff

Re: Brushes for Pressed Powder Foundation

Wayne Goss #13 is a good one. Hourglass #2 is a nice synthetic one. Both are longer bristled but dense. That way you are able to pick up the product nicely but not have it so concentrated in one area.

@mrsbaine Wayne Goss for the win!

@JewlzRulz Just brainstorming - I know IT Cosmetics makes pressed powder foundation and they are known for their brushes...maybe you could check them out 🙂

RE: Brushes for Pressed Powder Foundation

Find a brush with longer bristles. It will not dig into you powder as much and blend in seamlessly. You can also use a poof to apply it as well. The Laura Mercier poof is a good one.
