Spoiler

I'm just starting to get into having a skin care routine but all my products are made by different people. Should i have products that are the same brand? The thing is before I started using serums my face was dry and now since using it skin seems to oily. Can someone please help and recommend something for me?

Re: Newcomer

@LeaDawn1107 That's a great question. I completely agree with @caitbird - don't feel like you have to use the same brand for your entire skincare routine! Use whatever products you love and that make your skin feel cared for!

Re: Newcomer

@LeaDawn1107  you don't need to use products that are all by the same brand, it's totally fine to use products from different brands as long as they all work for you! What serums are you using now?

Re: Newcomer

@caitbird use global beauty vitamin c anti aging  and I use dermelect outcrease retinol trifecta serum at night

Re: Newcomer

@caitbird @I thought about buying the elf holy hydration set to try out for about a week or so just to see. I saw I can get the set for like 19.99 it's minis but wouldn't hurt to try

Re: Newcomer

@LeaDawn1107  I definitely hear you about not wanting to spend too much money, especially when you're just starting out and still figuring out what works for you! I think that's a smart approach. And I think trying a mini set, or even samples if you can, is also a smart way to save some money rather than buying the full sizes to start off. Definitely let us know how it works out for you if you do end up trying the e.l.f. set, and good luck! 💜

p.s. don't worry about asking too many questions, I know I don't mind, and I don't think anyone else here would either 😉

Re: Newcomer

@caitbird the global beauty I got from the family dollar store. Since I'm just learning I didn't want to spend a whole bunch of money on stuff ya know

Re: Newcomer

@caitbird @I do use a moisturizer I thought about using the e.l.f hydro but my skin sometimes with the products I'm using feel like it's to oily and I don't use a lot I'm embarrassed to say I'm 48 yrs old and I haven't a clue that's why I'm asking so many questions. I'm sorry

Re: Newcomer

@LeaDawn1107  I'm not familiar with either of those serums personally, but I don't see any reason why they would make your skin oily 🤔 Do you use a moisturizer after? For combination skin, I recommend something lightweight and non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) like a gel-cream. I like Neutrogena Hydro Boost moisturizer or e.l.f. Holy Hydration! moisturizer, they are both good inexpensive options you can find at the drugstore.
