Makeup looks terrible

Whenever I put foundation on my face it’s Always cakey or looked extremely dry or patchy what can I do?  I have combo skin I’m also looking for a good skin regiment if anyone can help out thank you!!

Re: Makeup looks terrible

@tammy127 I agree with the comments below -

1, you could be over exfoliating. How often are you using the peel? I usually exfoliate 1-2x a week and do a mask once a week.

2, are you applying moisturizer before applying makeup? My routine is sunscreen, eye cream, moisturizer, then primer (make sure it dries before putting on foundation)

3, if I am using liquid foundation, I like to apply it as dots all over my face, then spray with a mist (like the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist 1.35 oz/ 40 mL ), wait 15-20 seconds before blending. This will help keep you skin hydrated.

4, I only apply setting powder to areas where there are lots of movements throughout the day (around my eyes, lips, etc).

Another thing to consider is the foundation itself, full coverage foundations are thicker and could look cakey if you apply a lot. Maybe try switching from a matte foundation to a natural finish one. Best thing is you can ask for samples of foundations again to try them out. Hope this helps.

Re: Makeup looks terrible

@tammy127 I would suggest starting with a skincare routine that works for you. I like applying a serum after cleansing. I usually use my skincare as a primer. I wait for it to dry and then apply my makeup. I usually apply my foundation in a thin layer by putting tiny dots of it on my face and using a brush to apply by pressing it in, not swiping. I follow with bronzer, blush, and setting powder with a puff. I only apply setting powder where I get oily. This is what works for me.

This works super well, my makeup gets cakey too and it makes me glowy and moisturized the whole day!

For makeup primer I use bare-minerals prime time

Re: Makeup looks terrible

For makeup I usually wear bare minerals fairly light MATTE powder foundation and Smash-box studio skin 24 hr concealer but I do have 3 liquid foundations that I bought Rare Beauty liquid touch weightless foundation and FENTY BEAUTY pro filter gift matte long-wear foundation they both looks extremely cakey and dry  can you Recommend a primer or foundation concealer? Etc

I never really have a problem with bare minerals makeup.

@tammy127 I love Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer Blur Primer Gold NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

What kind of foundation finish do you like?  I know you use matte but is there a reason you only stick to it?

@tammy127 you could be over exfoliating.  Also, maybe switch to a non matte foundation.
