Once upon a time:

To round out the year cheeky co-quettes we're collaborating again with @sister13 for a really fun and festive time.  We're all duchesses of draping, universal under painters and beguiling blush babes at this point.  So, now I want you to tell me stories.  I love a good inspo story.

Let's get "Pop"ular (November 18-24)

 
Create a look with anything from a collab with the movie/musical Wicked, use anything from any Wicked Collaboration (One/Size, R.E.M., Opi, etc) " or anything that inspires you, particularly accenting pink, gold or green (not a green blush, but anything with a muted tone in the red family).

Fairytale makeup - this was a tiktok trend earlier this year.  I have no idea where it came from, but I love the idea of fairy tale makeup and just winding down the year.  I love it so much, it's a three part-er!

 

November 25-Dec 1
Part 1 -  Cast of Characters.  This is any fairytale makeup magic your heart desires from your favorite sidekick/supporting character.  Doesn' t need be a cosplay level look, whether it's using a cool color shifting liner or working a full fairy godmother look, let your makeup be inspired by the ones who always had the hero/heroine's back.

December 2-8th
Part 2 -The Princess Edit - give me your best Disney Princess/Prince blush look.  Are we going snow white rouge, or snatched Cinderella??

 
Part 3 - Very Villainous. Not at all demure. (December 9-Dec 15)
Let's be honest, Ursula, Maleficent, the evil queen....all slayed the makeup game, and then subsequently slained.  Well, what are heroics without the calamity of a counterpart? Bring out your inner baddie this week.

Wickedly Wintry: Dec 16-22
If it's in the title (the lion, the witch and the wardrobe), why not pay homage to it?  Using elements of ice and frost, give me your best Ice Queen look aka white witch from Narnia.  Silvery, sparkly highlights welcome.  If that's too frosty forward, any element of silver or white within your look can play to this theme.

Belle of the Ball (Dec 23-29) give me Glitz! Glam! All the glitter!  Feel free to use any holiday release, like the Dior or Nars collections.

Pixie Power!  (Dec 30-Jan 5) I want to see spritely cheeks, there needs to be a gold or glow involved.  Tinkerbell time!

Frosty Foliage: Jan 6-12
Give me that sunset blush look, but make it frosty...plum, berries, holographic shimmer.  (Not quite foliage, but I was going for the callback and alliteration.)

@danielledanielle @sister13  can I just say, first of all, thank you both for running this challenge and coming up with so much awesome inspiration! I am late to the party as usual (somehow I missed this thread for the first week or two, oops), but I am loving these themes! I had so much fun planning this week's looks to combine the themes from this challenge and Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge  and it was a blast!

For my Disney princess-inspired look, I chose Belle as my inspiration. I also tried to fit this look into this week's capsule makeup challenge theme, demure vs. bold (this is the "demure" version...for once! 😅 but I have a "bold" look planned too!), and incorporated some holiday sale season newness into my capsule as well. I got way too into brainstorming this look and made a collage of some different images of Belle as well as other makeup looks I found on Pinterest that I used for inspiration:

I focused on a natural pink flush/blush for cheeks, with a soft/neutral pink eye look and glossy pink lips. I'll post a full breakdown of products used to the capsule makeup thread and What are you wearing today Pt2  later!

For my...uhg...princess look, I went with Mulan.  I used:

- Tarte Be Matte-nificent palette

- Meow Cosmetics Red Dwarf blush

- PAT McGRATH LABS SatinAllure™ Lipstick Infatuation  (Is it just me, or does that song start playing in your head every time you hear the name of this lipstick?)

I modified the eye so the purple was mostly on the outer third and blended in towards the center.  A redder lipstick would have been more in keeping with the pic, but I liked the color I used better.  After all, I was wearing this in real life and to work! 😄

Thanks, @danielledanielle !  I saw several different shades of lipstick used online.  I tried to go with something in between a berry and a red.  I also didn't want to go completely purple on my eyeshadow (though that would have been fun).  You could still see it was purple, just softer.  I't was a less bold Mulan look.

Plot Twists: 

I hit 'pause' on my makeup capsule to give the sidekick inspired blush prompt a try earlier this week. Mushu from Mulan was my sidekick muse @danielledanielle and I intended to do an orange/coral and red ombre/gradient flush on my cheeks. The first attempt wasn't great. 😬  First, I overdid it on the blush and then in trying to diffuse it, I over-blended, and ended up tabling it until the next day (which gave me some time to think through how to approach it the second time around.

Rare Beauty Virtue and Tower 28 x Kung Fu Panda Dumpling Hour are packed with color when taken directly from their component. This second time, I took out some product and placed it on this mixing palette that was included in a nail art kit I picked up a few years ago - a dot of the RB, a swipe of Tower 28, and then a mix of both. I used my fingers to apply and blend the two separate shades on my cheeks and then applied the mixed shade onto my cheeks with my fingers and then blended with a beauty sponge. This approach isn't conventional but it helped me address the issue I was having earlier with the two shades getting diffused together into one color and not standing out on their own or creating an ombre/gradient look. The color pairing is more vibrant than I typically wear for blush but it was a fun challenge @danielledanielle and I may give it another try another day.

The UD foundation is self setting and it really wears beautifully and the mascara and lip stain hold their own, so the only parts of my face that I needed to set were my cheeks and I did that with ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Mini On 'Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray 1 oz/ 46 mL (not pictured). Lemme just say that my makeup stuck, all through a long day, which included an unplanned 6+ hours of running after a kid with way too much energy! 😂 

The shades when blended (or overblended) is very pretty even if it wasn't what I wanted the entire blush look to look like. 😆
