Fe-BROW-ary

Hey all! I wanted to propose a challenge for the month of February. I tried to search BIC and couldn't find anything so hopefully this is a new idea. I want to encourage everyone and myself to share brows and their brow goals for February.

I'm sure there are plenty of options that can range from low maintenance for makeup minimalists to more creative for those who want to branch out.

Perhaps you want to:

  • Try to do your brows twice a week
  • Use a new type of brow product - you usually go with a pencil but will try a pomade
  • Take care and strengthen your brows
  • Find a new holy grail brow product for you
  • Go wild with an attempt at an eyebrow trend

I hope you'll join along. Suggestions welcome!

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

@sister13   Thanks!  Sounds like something I need.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

You can probably googl It and learn more! @Ispend2much6

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

Sounds great @sister13

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

How cute!  I love your play on words @ShortErica !

A couple years ago I started visiting a brow artist at the Benefit Brow bar inside SiJCP.  My brows are what some have called "thick" but to me they look normal, not "Cara Delevingne"-thick by any standards.  I'm totally allergic to pain so I never went through the "tweezing" phase as a teenager & I'm so glad my cowardly instinct benefited me (for once) because I just don't have the patience to fill them in every day if I had to.

My favorite brow product - my never leave home without - my HG (ok, you get the gist) is BENEFIT COSMETICS - Brow Zings Tame & Shape Kit

You know what I'm happy for though, is that the crazy brow trends of 2018 have finally started dying down...(yowza!)

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

I agree those eyebrows are crazy @ZombieMetroAnt! I could never do it but for others I will say "whatever floats your boat." Haha. I used a benefit powder during a Sephora class and liked it. So cool you've found your holy grail.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

@ZombieMetroAnt   I agree!  I don't know why but that is one of the most disturbing trends I've seen lately.  Maybe because brows contribute so much to a person's appearance.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

@ZombieMetroAnt  Hahahaha!! Those are so funny!! Can you imagine showing up at a family dinner or girls night at with those, and someone asks, "anything new"!!!!🤣😄

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

@ShortErica Great idea for a thread!  My goal should be to take more steps to get a better point at the arch of my brows.  Ever since the brow brush I used for years became unusable, I've had a hard achieving the look I took for granted for so long!

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

Wow that brush sounds awesome @greeneyedgirl107. Hopefully you will find a similar brush along with improving your technique to get a better point. I'd love to see your first brow in February vs. your brow on the final day of the month.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

I'm all about that #BrowLife so can't wait to join this challenge. Great idea @ShortErica !

I do my brows on a daily basis but I tend to collect a lot of brow product. My goal will be to finish my Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil Soft Brunetteso actually commit to this one product for the month. I am in love with this brow product so shouldn't be a problem for me 🙂

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

Thanks @KatieBT! How much do you have left of it and will you post pictures? It will be impressive to use one product up.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

@ShortErica I have probably used half of the product. I’ll take a picture when I get home to keep myself accountable!

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

Awesome @KatieBT! I can't wait to see.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

You come up with the best ideas for threads @ShortErica! Unfortunately during the thin brow trend I overtweezed my brows. I use Revita Brow every evening at the end of my skincare routine. I just found a product new to me when shopping my stash. It is an even better dup for Benefit Gimme Brow. It is Ulta Beauty Brow Tint. It looks very natural!

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

The 70s were a bad time for eyebrows @Loretta55 😞

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

I probably spent about 5 hours a week in the late 70’s getting my eyebrows pencil thin @jozkid. I wish that I could get a do over because today nobody would believe that once I had a unibrow.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

Haha! I never had a unibrow @Loretta55   My brows weren’t even all that heavy, but it was the fashion then to tweeze. Who knew brows don’t necessarily always grow back?  Of course the pencil thin 70s were followed by the thick brow Brooke Shields 80s!  Fashion fail for me!

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

I can’t remember if I attempted the Brooke Shields eyebrow look in the 80’s @jozkid . I do remember that I started to get my eyebrows professionally waxed & tweezed during that era.

Revita Brow has helped to get my eyebrows looking fuller but my left eyebrow could use a bit more work so I wear my hair to cover it as much as possible.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

Aww, thanks @Loretta55! That is too funny you mention the Ulta Brow Tint - that's one of the two brow products I own. The other is a sample of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz® Ultra-Slim Precision Detailing Eyebrow Pencil Taupe

I think my goal is to use most/all of the sample. I at least need to open it for Pete's sake! And also I want to apply a brow product maybe 3 days a week. I generally try to do light makeup for work so one extra step should be doable.

What color do you use for the brow tint? I've been using "light" and not sure if it's the right shade for me. I'll share some pictures soon. 🙂

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

I wear medium in both Benefit Gimme More Brow (#3) & medium in the Ulta Beauty Brow Tint. My  other problem is covering the ugly grey hairs on my brows and the Ulta product really covers them @ShortErica. I was thinking about getting microbladding but I am not a good candidate because I get keloids.

Re: Fe-BROW-ary

I'm so glad the ulta brow product works so good for you @Loretta55 and I should really use mine more often. I dont know that I've ever thought about microblading. The whole little needles doing it kinda freaks me out.

  • It looks a lot like a mascara brush. There is a section of the brush that has longer hairs, which is what I mostly use to apply the product.

  • I should have added a little more on the middle of my brow. And, I should have made sure the end was smoother, but I was in a hurry because the person taking my pictures was in a hurry. :)

  • My naked spotty brows (and naked face, too)
  • Outlining the shape of my brows with ABH Brow Wiz, using my natural shape (what’s left of it) as a guide.
