And, even though I mentioned our "high" sales tax rate where I live, I should note that we don't have a state income tax, which is very nice.  And I don't think my property taxes are high either, so I'm pretty lucky!

I struggled with learning tax, so my knowledge is rather limited 😄 but it sounds like our system is fairly similar. And it's certainly far more complicated than just sales tax, which I should have mentioned I was referring to above 🙂 

And I have to agree! I definitely benefit more from my tax dollars than Americans, I'd say.

I think most people don't understand taxes, and I'm certainly no expert, but I try to learn as much as I can about all things. 

My ex-husband's paternal family live in Canada, it was interesting to pick their brains. Particularly as they were spread out between the Greater Montreal area, Toronto, Alberta, and Manitoba. (We always met them in Montreal.)

Is it true that there is free health care for everyone in Canada?

Mostly. It's publicly-funded (part of the reason we have higher taxes), but whether you pay anything/how much you pay can vary. 

This is a simplification, but I'd say it's mostly free - sometimes healthcare or services cost more, and we have to pick up the extra.

Yes but really depends what you mean by free health care... it doesn't cost anything to go see a doctor, have certain tests done like blood work/x-rays/MRI's or have necessary surgery but meds and stuff like physio isn't covered... only covered by private insurance... cosmetics surgery is obviously out of pocket... and free... well we pay in taxes... down side... wait times can be f-ing long.

ETA: My physio told me about someone she knew that needed some type of test/scan. Here there was a super long wait time so he went to the US... only waited a few days... sure he had to pay but no wait times... it's nice if you have the money for that.

My understanding is it's basically triage? So if you have say cancer or AIDS you're at the front of the queue? Mental health suicide ideations get top priority? Etc. etc. etc. 

Everyone else has to waaaaiiiiiittttt.

This is so annoying. I can't even do that since I have no address in the US to send to.

I'm now just waiting for a mod to come here, telling us there was a glitch on the server, and that they'll be available 12 PM EST tomorrow.

I don't complain about "perks" or coupons, but I will complain about given information that is not correct. Whether that's Sephora's fault or Bite's fault, I don't care, but they need to get their facts straight before announcing it.

Sadly with the conversion and shipping, it would make this $40 CAD lipstick into a $55 CAD+ lipstick. I wish Sephora would just stock things for us when they say they would...

According to Bite (on their instagram account) the release was supposed to be exactly the same for Canadians. They said all shades would be available.
