I did some digging around to find where the artwork came from & I found this in a article that was done on her in fashionista

McGrath turned to social media to commission fan art for them. "To further deepen my commitment to serving as an incubator for new creative talent in fields beyond makeup artistry, I am very proud that Pat McGrath Labs packaging showcases young, extraordinarily talented artists from around the world that I discovered on social media who were kind enough to create work inspired by [my makeup]," said McGrath. 

@eshoe I keep my palettes in their boxes but couldn't throw these away. They're just too pretty. And thank you.!🤗

This week I swatched VIII and tried to capture all of VR Sextraterrestrial’s shifts in different lighting. These are all dry finger swatches. I normally brush-swatch mattes but didn’t this time. 

Bathroom lighting. Swatches aren’t in palette order.Sunlight through a window. The many shades of VR Sexterrestrial.

Naked Blush might end up being a problem child in this palette. It seems too buttery soft for its own good. I’ll find out if that’s a good or bad thing when I finally play with this palette on my eyes. (Can’t do that until my sinus infection slows down. :() 

Rose Seduction (the pressed pigment not meant for use in the immediate eye area) is drier than I expected. Hmm... I’ll have fun experimenting with it. 

It’s interesting that Pat’s application tips recommend a brush to apply Divine Dusk instead of a finger. When I finger-swatched it, I thought “hmm, this one might apply better with Fix+ on a brush than a dry finger.” This weekend, I need to dip some brushes into some of these shadows and play on my arm.

Gorgeous swatches, @WinglessOne!  Thanks for taking so many picture so that we can see VR in its glory!  I played with Rose Seduction around the eye the other day and liked it.  It didn't irritate my eyes or stain.  I do need to figure out what better to pair it with, though.  I used it with VR and didn't love it (it was too much, I think) - next time I will try with Extreme Burgundy.
