Black-Owned Cosmetics Line, Pat McGrath Labs, Said To Surpass Kylie Jenner’s In Valuation

Black-owned makeup line Pat McGrath Labs recently secured a $60 million deal from New York-based investment firm Eurazeo Brands, with beauty industry insiders speculating that its valuation has been raised to $1 billion and surpassing that of Kylie Jenner’s cosmetics company (valued at $800 million), according to a press release from the investment firm. Eurozeo will become minority shareholders in Pat McGrath Labs

Pat McGrath Labs, founded by the esteemed black British makeup artist of the same name, has become a staple brand in Sephora’s North American stores since its launch in 2016.

According to a biography on her website, McGrath has created makeup looks in scores of fashion and couture shows in the major fashion meccas of the world, including Milan, Paris, London, and New York. She has worked with high-profile designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Givenchy, Gucci, and Versace. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour called McGrath, “the most influential makeup artist in the world.”

When Giorgio Armani hired her to develop and launch a line of cosmetics in 1999, the minimalist maestro said, “I was struck by the way she interpreted colour and by her ideas about beauty and femininity.”

Engaged as Global Beauty Creative Design Director by Procter & Gamble in 2004, Pat McGrath oversees Covergirl, Max Factor and created Dolce & Gabbana: The Makeup. Recently, she also designed and launched Gucci’s debut cosmetic collection. “She is a terrific business partner. Our success is her success, and vice versa,” says Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President and General Manager of Procter & Gamble Cosmetics.

According to the news release, Granoff has held leadership roles at both Estée Lauder and Victoria’s Secret Beauty, where she served as president and chief operating officer.

“We look forward to joining Pat McGrath Labs on its global journey to reach millions of new consumers who have followed the brand for years. We love to partner with brilliant entrepreneurs like Pat and believe this investment will be a success,” said

Kylie Jenner, on track to become a billionaire with her own successful makeup line, recently became the buzz of the business world after she appeared on the latest cover of Forbes. The magazine received some backlash after asserting that Jenner was “self-made,” a description critics said should not apply to one born into a wealthy family.

Oh yeah she did that already. Totally forgot about that this morning.  😄 

I wonder what it is @Mochapj...  Another finish in her regular lipstick line???  The powder type lipsticks that we are seeing now? 🤔🤔🤔

@Mochapj @veronika23 I hope it's not another powder lip product (I have a feeling it is for some reason).  My brain can't handle them! I can barely manage lipstick in a regular bullet.

I'm ashamed to say the concept @veronika23.  My mouth is crooked so I overthink regular lipstick and the idea of something that I can control even less terrifies me.  Maybe I'm thinking too much about it!

@michelleshops  I get it. Maybe you would have more control if you can apply this powder with a brush. A stiffer brush than what you would normally use for regular lipstick... so maybe it would work for you?

@veronika23 something powdery would not surprise me. Those are becoming more popular than I ever would’ve expected

@veronika23 I’ve tried a Korean powder one, can’t recall the brand off the top of my head. They’re interesting and look pretty but I’m not crazy about the feel on the lips.

i have a few of the Pat liquids too and they’re ok but not my fave formula as I don’t find them as comfortable as others

@Mochapj  thanks! I still prefer a traditional lipstick over the rest. I don't have any of her new ones but interested in the colored balms. Might pick one up when they go live in Canada.
