Since the brand is coming to Sephora. I thought I'd start a thread just for the brand for news and info.

Mothership VI Eyeshadow Palette - Midnight Sun
@WinglessOne& @makeitup305 , ughhhhh...😑. This is a bad move...a few spoiled apples really ruins the bunch.
@danielledanielle @WinglessOne I just saw the reddit thread about it. The OP said that it was mentioned on the PMG facebook group by someone with the brand. Womp womp. I doubt I would buy any backups but it's the end of an era.
@makeitup305 I’m going to pick up a Sephora BOPIS order this weekend, so I’ll find out then if Petalmorphosis is at that store. And heh, if you’ve been a hater then I’ve been a loather, mostly because of the pink palette flood. 😅 You did a good job with all the new palette comparison swatches and feedback.
Yesterday I saw someone say the baked shades are no more because people—specifically, Sephora customers—kept returning Motherships, claiming the baked shades were too hard to use. I can kinda sorta see that with the Astral shades, if folks didn’t understand (or try to learn) Pat’s intended use of those. But the Blitz and VR shades? Really? I’ve only had trouble with one of those, despite using them mostly like I’d use any other shimmer shadow. I mean, I get why people wouldn’t wanna spend $128 on a palette they can’t get full use out of. And I definitely understand the frustration of a palette that won’t act right, regardless of price. (Resisting my usual Urban Decay rant here.) But when I run into that problem, I revisit the brand’s site/social media accounts to look for any usage tips or demos they’ve created for their customers. Pat McGrath used to be good about doing that, which I guess is why I’ve never returned a Mothership (though I was tempted to return Moonlit Seduction, solely for its color story). 🤷♀️ I realize some people feel a palette shouldn’t need special instructions to be used. I’m sure that’s why so many people complained about Natasha Denona’s creamy matte formula—but anyway, I don’t mind looking up a brand’s instructions, tips, demos, etc. That stuff usually helps me decide if I’m gonna buy a product in the first place.
Sorry for the insomnia-driven rambling. If Pat ever wanted to do a crazy cash grab, she could release a LE small-batch version of Decadence, but make all 10 pans baked Blitz and VR shades. Would I buy that? Yes. Yes I would. Heck, I’m still hoping she’ll convince her brand investors to let her release more Blitz single shadows.
@WinglessOne the endless wave of pink and gold was a bit much, to be sure. Besides the Bridgerton one, which I can see, the other collabs have been so random. Candy Crush? Even Star Wars was weird to me. I'm suprised they haven't released new shades of powder blush (like LE or seasonal shades), other complexion products, cream bronzers or contours. Not that I want them to be victims to the constant release of products but the brand has just felt kind of stale when it had previously been on the vanguard of makeup releases previously.
I pair PMG with Danessa Myricks and Natasha Denona in my head. DM maybe a little less because their packaging and price is generally less on the luxury side but in terms on innovation, DM has taken over for me. Each release seems unique and well thought out. ND has become less unique but has continued to listen to consumers as to what they want in terms of shades and textures for her eye shadows. She realized the big palettes weren't selling as well and now sticks to midis and minis. Her complexion releases haven't been exciting but they're pretty solid and all her releases suit her brand. No weird collabs.
Quick indoor and outdoor swatches of Petalmorphosis. The sun was setting so the lighting wasn't the best.
Love your swatches, @makeitup305 ! The colors look wonderful on you! Both palettes look so similar. I'd love to see a comparison if you have time.
@makeitup305 Great swatches! Wow the two palettes look very similar.
@Mellmars1185 tbh I think I like the WhatsUp palette better. I need to post comparison swatches but many of the shades in that one are duo or multichromes, which just appeal to me more.
Comparison swatches world be really neat to see @makeitup305. I read your post above, it's sounds like this one was very underwhelming for you.
@CynthieLu I wouldn't say underwhelming just didn't wow me the same. The formulas are still very high quality and the color story is beautiful. I just don't think it merits the price of other Motherships without the baked shades.
@TraceyEB the shimmers are very creamy with the exception of the topper shade, which is a little more piece-y.
Thx @makeitup305 . All shades look gorgeous on you. Please report back after you play with them 😘
Thx @Mochapj . I was saying I will skip but now I’m not so sure 🌹❤️
@blackkitty2014 I have it and did a look with it already. It’s a really pretty palette.
Thx for letting me know @SportyGirly125 . Now I think I want it 😘
