I've searched high and low and haven't found a dedicated Jo Malone thread, but knowing how many of us enjoy JM products I though it'd be nice to have a place where we can share upcoming news and our favorites.
My all time favorite is Blue Agava and Cacao, followed by Peony Blush Suede.
I just picked up Basil and Neroli, which to my nose is a dead ringer for Bobbi Brown Beach! As I love Beach, I think this fragrance is going to be a new fave come the spring. It is different enough from Lime, Basil, Mandarin to justify owning both in my collection. Basil and Neroli emphasizes the Neroli while LBM is heavy on the basil and lime, which give it a more herbal edge.
EDIT: Updated Jo Malone and Jo Loves perfume collection (100ml, 50ml, 30ml, dry body oils):
@itsfi I never got to smell Ginger Biscuit but it sounds AMAZING.
English Pear & Freesia is getting the flanker treatment with the new English Pear & Sweet Pea! From the JM site: Sun-warmed orchards spring to life as tempting green pears fill the branches. The luscious fruits enveloped in softly scented pastel sweet peas, nestled on a base of powdery white musk.
I tried this scent recently, and I am not wowed. It’s not different enough from English Pear & Freesia to make it memorable, plus its sillage and longevity are worse than the OG. The cut glass packaging is lovely though.
Good to know, @LCResz. Thanks for sharing your review!
Love the Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia Candle and picked up the Jo Malone London Mini Sakura Cherry Blossom/ English Pear & Freesia Set to try out.
I've a question for anyone who's tried Grapefruit: what is it like? I'm considering buying it blind during the sale, but I'd rather hear from anyone who loved or hated it, and why. (I'm hoping it's a nice citrus.) TIA for your opinions, good or bad! 🙂
I own 100 ml of Grapefruit. It’s clean and classic JM scent not liked the stuffs they put out last couple years. It’s a bit linear but in a good way. If you like citrus and clean scent, you won’t be disappointed @Harobedb
There seems to be a new collection: The Highlands
Had anyone had a chance to test/smell any of these? Are these re-releases? Melancholy Thistle, Highland Heather, Mallow On The Moor and Wild Achillea.
So I got the sample set that @quspork mentioned.
My initial thoughts (I’ll try to follow up with more upon wearing longer):
Wild Achillea : this is the freshest of the collection with the initial citrus (Neroli) opening followed by the floral/musky note. It’s just okay to me.
Mallow on the Moor: this may be the best of me from this collection. I’ve liked other combos of heliotrope and powdery florals, which this is. But, also a just okay.
Highland Heather: this is a heavier woody scent, which I don’t think I’m a fan of, with some muddled grassy and floral mix. Initial thoughts - don’t like.
Melancholy Thistle: As with Highland Heather, a heavier woody scent. These two are similar but of course, also not. A different muddy grassy and floral mix. Also not liking.
For reference, some of my favorite fragrances are JML. Love Scarlet Poppy, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, Peony & Blush Suede, Poppy & Barley, Rose Blush, and Fig and Lotus Flower. Thoroughly enjoyed previous Blossoms and the recent Holiday collection re-releases (Midnight Musk & Amber, White Moss & Snowdrop, etc…) but not this new collection so much - although it is so pretty! Glad they have the samples set to test these out.
I have the discovery set and agree with your assessment. Mallow on the Moor is nice, kind of reminds me of Kenzo's Ca Sent Beau that I used to be obsessed with in the late 90s. I quite like Wild Achillea as well. I might consider getting one of these two. But the other two are uninspiring. Highland Heather smells a lot like some of her other brighter woodier fragrances (on me, anyway), and Melancholy Thistle is similar but also so subtle I can barely smell it on myself at all.
I got this discovery kit, too (which has entirely vanished from the JM website.) I'm taking my time spraying these to see what I think. I tried Mallow on the Moor; the drydown to me reminds me of the smell of a new Barbie doll from when I was a kid (OK, go figure.) Plasticky? Well, I loved Barbie, so there's that!
That you for the reviews, @newcarlee!
For anyone who is interested in trying out the scents of the new Highlands collection, Jo Malone (direct) is offering a sample set of the four fragrances for $20. They are just 1.5 mL sprays, but it's a nice way to sample the scents before committing if you're not able to get to a store in person. The website also has a code (PEONY) for a 9 mL spray of Peony and Blush Suede with any order (no minimum).
@newcarlee @The only one that seems to be a re-release is the Achillea, which was Nettle & Wild Achillea in the Wild Flowers & Weeds LE collection of 2019. It’s really very pretty.
Oooh, these might be new @newcarlee; I don't recall seeing these fragrances before. @LCResz?
Yes to some newness from Jo Malone @LCResz! 😃 I may have to see about visiting a boutique or counter to see these in person.
