Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I've searched high and low and haven't found a dedicated Jo Malone thread, but knowing how many of us enjoy JM products I though it'd be nice to have a place where we can share upcoming news and our favorites.

My all time favorite is Blue Agava and Cacao, followed by Peony Blush Suede.

I just picked up Basil and Neroli, which to my nose is a dead ringer for Bobbi Brown Beach! As I love Beach, I think this fragrance is going to be a new fave come the spring. It is different enough from Lime, Basil, Mandarin to justify owning both in my collection. Basil and Neroli emphasizes the Neroli while LBM is heavy on the basil and lime, which give it a more herbal edge.

EDIT: Updated Jo Malone and Jo Loves perfume collection (100ml, 50ml, 30ml, dry body oils):

Back for the Holidays: the perennial Orange Bitters, the modern classic Green Almond & Redcurrant, and the return of Ginger Biscuit! All of the packaging for the holidays will feature striped bows in different festive colors. The advent calendar is already available on their main website! IMG_0200.jpeg

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I want the bow @LCResz @itsfi ! 🤣 I’ve not sniffed any of these. Do you guys love them?! I seem to have the worst time getting some JM to last on me! 😭

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

Not just you @Sunnysmom . JM last about 4 hrs the most on me. Sometimes I don’t mind though. I think the classics scents tend to last longer. I probably imagine it since the love their old stuffs more 😘

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

That’s a good point @blackkitty2014 ! Sometimes it’s a good thing! So many solid fragrances from JM!

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

@Sunnysmom I adore all three of these holiday scents. Typically I don't wear Orange Bitters on its own. I usually layer it with something musky to help balance the heavier fragrance. The Green Almond is super fresh and green and a great light winter scent. And Ginger Biscuit is well, my absolute favorite. It's warm and spicy, just a touch sweet but not vanilla. I love it and have received so many compliments on it when I wear it. TBH, I've rarely had an issue with JM colognes lasting on me, but both the GA&RC and GB are two of the longer lasting JM scents *for me*.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

Thank you bunches for your info @quspork ! 🥰 I will write this down! I am drawn to the idea of Ginger B so it’ll be fun to sniff these. That’s wonderful you get so many compliments on it as well! ☺️

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

@LCResz, I was in store today and received samples of their holiday releases. Haven’t had a chance to give them a try. I’m excited for the return of Ginger Biscuit. Have you ever picked up their advent calendar?

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

@itsfi I never got to smell Ginger Biscuit but it sounds AMAZING.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

@itsfi  I’ve never gotten the advent calendar as I’m not a huge fan of minis. Hope you like your samples!

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

English Pear & Freesia is getting the flanker treatment with the new English Pear & Sweet Pea! From the JM site: Sun-warmed orchards spring to life as tempting green pears fill the branches. The luscious fruits enveloped in softly scented pastel sweet peas, nestled on a base of powdery white musk.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I tried this scent recently, and I am not wowed. It’s not different enough from English Pear & Freesia to make it memorable, plus its sillage and longevity are worse than the OG. The cut glass packaging is lovely though.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

Good to know, @LCResz.  Thanks for sharing your review!

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

Love the Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia Candle and picked up the Jo Malone London Mini Sakura Cherry Blossom/ English Pear & Freesia Set to try out.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I've a question for anyone who's tried Grapefruit: what is it like? I'm considering buying it blind during the sale, but I'd rather hear from anyone who loved or hated it, and why. (I'm hoping it's a nice citrus.) TIA for your opinions, good or bad! 🙂

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I own 100 ml of Grapefruit. It’s clean and classic JM scent not liked the stuffs they put out last couple years. It’s a bit linear but in a good way. If you like citrus and clean scent, you won’t be disappointed  @Harobedb

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

Thanks for your review! I do love those notes...I'm feeling a lot better about making this purchase!

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

There seems to be a new collection: The Highlands

Had anyone had a chance to test/smell any of these? Are these re-releases? Melancholy Thistle, Highland Heather, Mallow On The Moor and Wild Achillea.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

So I got the sample set that @quspork mentioned.

My initial thoughts (I’ll try to follow up with more upon wearing longer):

Wild Achillea : this is the freshest of the collection with the initial citrus (Neroli) opening followed by the floral/musky note. It’s just okay to me.

Mallow on the Moor: this may be the best of me from this collection. I’ve liked other combos of heliotrope and powdery florals, which this is. But, also a just okay.

Highland Heather: this is a heavier woody scent, which I don’t think I’m a fan of, with some muddled grassy and floral mix. Initial thoughts - don’t like.

Melancholy Thistle: As with Highland Heather, a heavier woody scent. These two are similar but of course, also not. A different muddy grassy and floral mix. Also not liking.

For reference, some of my favorite fragrances are JML. Love Scarlet Poppy, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, Peony & Blush Suede, Poppy & Barley, Rose Blush, and Fig and Lotus Flower. Thoroughly enjoyed previous Blossoms and the recent Holiday collection re-releases (Midnight Musk & Amber, White Moss & Snowdrop, etc…) but not this new collection so much - although it is so pretty! Glad they have the samples set to test these out.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I have the discovery set and agree with your assessment. Mallow on the Moor is nice, kind of reminds me of Kenzo's Ca Sent Beau that I used to be obsessed with in the late 90s. I quite like Wild Achillea as well. I might consider getting one of these two. But the other two are uninspiring. Highland Heather smells a lot like some of her other brighter woodier fragrances (on me, anyway), and Melancholy Thistle is similar but also so subtle I can barely smell it on myself at all.

Re: Jo Malone Thread: Share the News and Love!

I got this discovery kit, too (which has entirely vanished from the JM website.) I'm taking my time spraying these to see what I think. I tried Mallow on the Moor; the drydown to me reminds me of the smell of a new Barbie doll from when I was a kid (OK, go figure.) Plasticky? Well, I loved Barbie, so there's that!
