There is a line that has buried itself in my heart (and my pocketbook), and it is Guerlain. I know Im not the only one out there. I thought I would start this thread for the discussion of all things Guerlain, skin care, makeup, perfume, places to get good gwp or good samples. Experiences people have had, looks people have created with the products.
For me it all started with a makeover by Guerlain's own Marie Line at my local Neiman Marcus. She spent an hour with me and I left feeling calm and happy.
As a mother of 4 year old twins and as a doctor I spend my live rushing through the day, often without enough sleep, more often without enough water, taking care of everyone else. It shows on my face, in the fatigue in my eyes, in the puffiness and dark circles under them. While I have been blessed with good skin it can be confused, aging (I bought my guerlain the day prior to my 40th birthday), but still with an oily t zone, and with patchy dry spots on my cheeks likely from the dry air in my medical work environment. One of the things she said to me was- make it about a ritual for you, and dont leave it until your going to fall asleep. I walked out with the orchidee imperiele gel cream, eye and lip cream and white/brightenining serum. It was a birthday gift to myself. And now every night I sit down for 15 minutes and wash my face and slowly carry through the ritual. a ritual of energy expended and renewed. Breathing in the soft smell of the orchids. Im still using a cleanser and exfoliator from another line given how much I spent, but I have seen substantial change in my face in the 3 weeks since.
so thats my story, and I would love to share a discussion with other lovers of Guerlain, especially as we eagerly anticipate the 2015 holiday collection.
There are so many meteorites for a newbie like me it's a little intimidating..I'm not sure what each one does or the results it will give me...I think they are something similar to ambient powders ( also don't have yet) ? I have always loved the meteorite packaging tho and don't mind alittle sparkle if this one has some..I'm worried if it has a perfumey scent which sometimes triggers migraines ( Estée Lauder mascara looking at you).
The fragrance disappears as soon as you apply the product. Unlike Chanel's products, where your face will scream (smell like) Chanel until you take your makeup off.
I wouldn't say the meteorites are like Hourglass ALPs at all. The meteorites have a much more subtle effect. The loose meteorites all contain a small amount of that micro-shimmer you noticed. The pressed versions are my preference as they give you the glow, without the shimmer, and are more mattifying. The ALPs on the other hand are much more obvious in the glow they give you and some of them are more pronounced highlighters such as luminous light, incandescent light, and the new highlighting shade in the edit palette. Then there is radiant light which is darker and contains micro-shimmer too.
Yes, I'd say they're similar to the Ambient Lightig Powders 🙂
although.... They are definitely scented. Violets. Meteorites have their very own scent. Hopefully it doesn't bother you 😞
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows when the new gold parure foundation will be available for purchase in the US? I used it before, love it but now its been reformulated and I want to try it..
Have you checked any stores? I've seen it here in Canada, but we're still waiting on the holiday collection, so I'm surprised you don't have it yet... I'd expect it soon, if you don't have it already!
I have tried all the major luxury department stores and nothing.. of course they don't know anything about it.. thanks for your reply might be coming soon then!
There's a boutique in Vegas, I think - maybe they'll have better info?
Has anyone received the palette yet? I am ready to see some swatches!!
I did last night, can swatch when I get home 🙂
see above
So. I don't know where Dillard's actually exists (they're a major anchor/department store throughout Texas), but I just spotted the Guerlain holiday collection there. It looks like it had actually been there a while...
I can't wait to read all the reviews on the holiday balls!
My babies finally arrived!! I'm in love.
Did your meteorites come from Bergdorf's and if so did they come in the actual mail and not FedEx/UPS? My order info says it's coming via USPS and that makes me nervous - hopefully I won't have a jar of broken pieces.
Mine came from Bergdorfs and was initially fedex and then USPS, box looked ok but definately not a ton of packing inside however, I would say that the meteorites arrived completely intact, probobly due to the design of the ball and puff
Mine came from Sephora. And UPS.
Yeah I pulled the trigger and purchased from Bergdorf's since they released first - kinda wish I would have waited for the Sephora release even though I didn't have to pay tax at Bergdorf's. I trust UPS over USPS - I think our mail carrier hates me. I've seen they way she shoves stuff into our mailbox. I wish I knew what I did....
Anyways here's hoping it comes thru a okay.
Hope they do!
I just got my meteorites as well, and even though the packing material was minimal and lousy the arrived intact because the pouf gives them some love on the inside, btw there is a mirror on the inside of the jar as well =D
Oh and mine came from Bergdorfs
