For the love of all things Guerlain

There is a line that has buried itself in my heart (and my pocketbook), and it is Guerlain.  I know Im not the only one out there.  I thought I would start this thread for the discussion of all things Guerlain, skin care, makeup, perfume, places to get good gwp or good samples.  Experiences people have had, looks people have created with the products.  

For me it all started with a makeover by Guerlain's own Marie Line at my local Neiman Marcus.  She spent an hour with me and I left feeling calm and happy.  

As a mother of 4 year old twins and as a doctor I spend my live rushing through the day, often without enough sleep, more often without enough water, taking care of everyone else.  It shows on my face, in the fatigue in my eyes, in the puffiness and dark circles under them.  While I have been blessed with good skin it can be confused, aging (I bought my guerlain the day prior to my 40th birthday), but still with an oily t zone, and with patchy dry spots on my cheeks likely from the dry air in my medical work environment.  One of the things she said to me was- make it about a ritual for you, and dont leave it until your going to fall asleep.  I walked out with the orchidee imperiele gel cream, eye and lip cream and white/brightenining serum.  It was a birthday gift to myself.  And now every night I sit down for 15 minutes and wash my face and slowly carry through the ritual.  a ritual of energy expended and renewed.  Breathing in the soft smell of the orchids.  Im still using a cleanser and exfoliator from another line given how much I spent, but I have seen substantial change in my face in the 3 weeks since.  

so thats my story, and I would love to share a discussion with other lovers of Guerlain, especially as we eagerly anticipate the 2015 holiday collection.

I quite like it @thatjedininja @naturalooks15  I got it when it came out in the UK 6 months or so ago. I have drier skin and it is comfortable and wears well, lasts the day and is light to medium coverage. I also was able to find a good color match which is rare for me. I don’t wear foundation every day but when I do, more often than not, this is the one I reach for.

I tried out the glow cushion primer this morning. 

@blackkitty2014 it does not have the Météorites scent. If it’s scented at all, it’s so faint that I can’t pick anything up. It's not easy to see the difference on camera, because it's very subtle. If anything, I can see that it slightly evened out some discoloration around my mouth and it actually seemed to mattify my skin a little, while still leaving a radiance. I've included a super close up of my cheek area; in this you can see the light reflecting shimmery particles; they're not really visible in person unless you're really, REALLY close.

It sounds like an interesting product and I can see in your pics what you mean by matte but radiant @Mochapj . Have you tried any foundation on top of it? There are a few primers I really enjoy but I still can’t find a perfect pair of primer and foundation that go well together.

@fatimamummy I haven't yet. When I tried it this morning I wasn't planning to wear it today (I already had a different illuminator and look in mind that I wanted to do)

I just put it on to see if it would do anything and then removed it after I took the photo. I'm going to try it out later this evening underneath a foundation to see what (if anything) it will do.

@Mochapj  Please keep me posted about how it performs. My latest pick of a primer ( Murad invisiblur) is oxidizing any and everything I put on top of it 😞

@fatimamummy  will do. I don't have a ton of experience with primers (have only tried 2 or 3) but I didn't realize they could cause the stuff you put on top of them to oxidize! 😮

@Mochapj This one is definitely doing it for me. I tried from 4 different base products on top of it and each started looking muddy after an hour or so.

Meteorites glow pearls cushion primer - it’s  not very visible in the photos but it gives the same sort of radiance that the powder perles do

@blackkitty2014  you know, I didn’t immediately notice a scent, so it’s definitely not as fragrant as the powder perles. Will let you know when I use it on my face if I can detect anything.

i picked up the powder ones last week and they’re lovely but I do find the fuchsia shade makes them more of a blush than a finishing powder

@Mochapj , please report back once you use it 🙂 I actually dont mind the scent.  I tell myself i will allow me to pick up either the pearl or the cushion cuz i'm using these.  I stopped picking up the bronzers for the last couple years as they are not suitable for my skin tone even though they are so gorgeous on the pan.  Sigh!!! PS:  Can you believe i forgot about the Highlighter Duo?  By the time i remember it, it sold out everywhere. (Cry) lol
