Dior's Reformulated Backstage Face & Body

So, Dior Re-released the Backstage Face & Body Foundation... I got an e-mail saying it's a new item.

I have to ask...

1. WHY do brands reformulate instead of coming out with a new line? Especially when the finish is entirely different? 

2. Why does Sephora leave the reviews of the product's old formulation (if it's released today, June 16, 2023, I shouldn't see reviews from 2022!). 4.3K reviewers for a new product is VERY misleading. 

I was pretty loyal to this foundation... but man i'm so disappointed.

I agree, @Noosiekins !  On Sephora, these products should be listed as "reformulated," not "new"; and the previous reviews should be archived.  If the company were to rename the product, they would have to start over with a new marketing campaign, which costs money.  Using the old name means they can capitalize on name recognition and word of mouth, which costs a lot less.

This happened with my favorite foundation a number of years ago.

yeah @Titian06... I believe MAC did the same thing a while back?

I had to have a look at Dior's site and they've kept the 2 separate. The old ones are all "out of stock". The new one's write up is different... price is also different.

@Noosiekins , I feel you. I loved this foundation and I don't think I'll like the new one, given it's a more luminous finish. I think one of the original ingredients is now EU banned, but I'm not sure if that's the main reason behind the reformulation, or part contributor.
