Retaining hair growth? part of hair are silky smooth other parts are dry:( especially on the outter edges. and split ends.

How often are you getting your hair trimmed? Do you heat style? Do you pull your hair back into ponytails a lot? What do you to do moisturize your hair? Split ends can only be remedied with scissors. If anyone tells you differently, they are lying. Once they are split, it's a wrap. 

Sounds like you need regular moisture. Look for products that aren't protein heavy. Proteins in products tend to be drying. Things rich in oils like Aragon, Marula, or even Shea butter are good for the dryness. You can do a deep conditioning treatment once a week that is specific to retaining moisture in your hair. I like TGIN Honey Miracle Mask. Honey is super moisturizing. Nothing has made my hair more soft and moisturized. Between your washes (don't wash your hair daily- it will dry it out) you can use oils on your scalp, and a little on the ends to retain moisture. I like Aragon oil or Jojoba oil. Both are light oils that don't weigh your hair down, but penetrate the hair shaft and really moisturize your hair. 

If you are heat styling, use a heat styler. These are sprays that will protect your hair against the frying curling irons and flat irons do. I had one from Phyto that I loved.
