ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

Right now I'm looking at buying the ghd Dazzle Gift Set for $240. To me, that is A LOT! But my hair is so thick & unmanagable that my Revlon straightener just isn't doing the job. I also want to help protect my hair. Plus, the Dazzle set comes with a ghd hair dryer. I'm just wondering if this is as great as people say it is. I don't want to shell out $240 for a bad product!

Also, is the straightener in the set the professional version? I know it says so in the description, but sometimes these things are wrong. I want to make sure I get the professional, not the classic =]

Hi! $240 is a lot of money for a flat iron. I actually went to look at that exact same Dazzle kit in store couple days ago. Do not buy it! I also have very thick hair and been hunting for flat irons I found the best one its from Sedu 1 1/2 plate runs about $130-$100 (onsale) I can flat iron my whole hair in ten minutes which usually takes me 30 minutes with other irons. So far so good the best $120 I spent. Hope this information helps & save you some $$$!

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

I have extremely curly and frizzy hair and have tried several different straighteners including top brands like CHI(which I had for 5 years), Paul Mitchell, Sedu, etc., and after recently when my CHI started not giving results anything above crappy, I decided it was time to invest. You can get a GHD from Beautychoice's website. They are an authorized GHD retailer (if you don't believe me you can look for yourself on GHD's website) and you will pay about half of what you would anywhere else. I got the professional 1" styler and let me tell you that I am not exaggerating whatsoever when I say that it is the most incredible flat iron I have ever used! It gets my hair straighter than it's ever been and has cut the amount of time it used to take me to straighten my hair with my CHI(45 minutes) down to a maximum time of 15 minutes! It glides through your hair effortlessly and after applying a thermal protectant it only takes one swipe to get the job done! It really is superb and I question if any of these individuals who are claiming the GHD is just "okay" have really used it properly. I would say go for it, for sure, and check out Beauty Choice's selection. I believe they have the dazzle set for around $145. 🙂

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

I love ghd straighteners. I purchased one a few months ago when I killed my CHI while on a trip in Europe. I have thick, wavy hair and I can straighten my hair now in 5 minutes. I also love the option of being able to use the same tool for curly or straight styling. When I style my hair with my ghd, people regularly ask if I've just had it done professionally. In closing, it was definitely worth the money for me.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

I have it and think it is a great product. Previous to this I had the Sedu Pro Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron (1 1/2") from folica. In my opinion the sedu is better than ghd which I am using right now but both are great. the sedu one is $129 plus 25% off at folica. You need to compare both for yourself. If You can not, then I suggest the Sedu; You won't be disappointed.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

I love my ghd flat iron!  I was using a T3 that i could only use on clean hair.  It wouldn't work as well on second day hair.  I got this one, and I can use it on second day hair or hair with product in it!

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

I've gone through 6 flat irons in as many years (from Hot Tools to Chi to T3) and nothing compares to the GHD.  I have tick, wavy, color-treated (damaged) hair and it straightens in half the time.  I've been using the GHD for a year now and have noticed considerably less damage than other flat irons caused.  Buy it - you won't regret it!

As a hairstylist, GHD brand is kind of worth it, though I would not waste my money on it again. First i would recommend you to go to your local Sally's and check some of their ceramic flat irons before you invest a sum of money for a GHD flat iron. From reading your post you have a Revlon flatiron. I have many different flat irons, in all honesty GHD is okay. Its Pros: makes hair smooth and straight, no tugging or pulling. It's Cons: It didn't have a heat control monitor (the one I have, I'm not sure if other ones have it or not.), it's wayy too hot for me to be using it on certain people's hair. My sister have super thick, frizz/curly hair that used to take forever to flat iron. That is until I got her a ION flatiron from our local Sally's Beauty Supply. It has heat control monitor, ceramic plates, does not pull or tug, and it heats up within a minute! It's price ranges between $50-80, it works awesome. Oh, remember to always use a Thermal Spray, so it'll help protect your hair from getting damaged from heated tools. I hope my advice helped.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

GHD was just too expensive for me to purchase but I bought a sedu and I love it!! No split ends for like a whole year, but I always use a heat pertectant.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

YES! It is the best flat iron that I have ever used and I have used them all! GHD is much better then CHI and it will not due the damage to your hair that CHI does. I have used, Chi, T3, Croc, Metropolis, Solano, Solia, Sedu, Hai...I know I'm leaving out some...GHD is fast, makes my hair shiny and keeps it straight and smooth more then other irons.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

The GHD flat iron was worth every penny for me.  Honestly, I would have paid twice the price to get the sort of results it provides.  I have very wavy, very thick, very frizzy hair and this iron transforms it into a straight, silky dream.  I get compliments on my hair all the time!

Although the iron is magnificent, it's important to use products that compliment it.  For example, you need a good heat protectant spray to help smooth things out and keep your style.  I LOVE Redken's Iron Silk.  I also recommend using a good serum before blow drying.  I alternate between Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum and Phyto's Phytodefrisant.

The GHD flatiron worth every penny!~

I love it so much and it is by far the best flatiron I used and tried. I compared it with other brands before purchasing mine and it totally worth it!

It heats up super fast and it leaves your hair all silky and shiny looking =).

However, remember to put on some hair protection spray or cream before using it, because of the intense heat it used can damage your hair if you didn't protect your hair.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

My best friend got the ghd and loved it. I returned mine. I have very thick, coarse hair and it just didn't do anything more than a superficial straightening (the kind that looks okay until you step outside). I personally use a Solia and love it.

I would say the ghd would be fine if your hair doesn't do the instant frizzball thing in humidity and is probably not very coarse.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

Hi Caitlincrazy!  Yes it's true! The GHD Dazzle Gift Set does include the Professional 1" Styler.

Re: ghd Professional Flatiron--Worth the money?

It wasn't worth it for me, I have thick course curly hair. I bought it but returned it, I have always used a Sedu iron and thought the GHD would be better but it wasn't. Also, the lack of heat control was an issue for me. I ended up buying another Sedu, which I love. The great thing about Sephora is that you can return things so easily, so if you don't like it just take it back. One more thing, the GHD will seem amazing compared to a Revlon, but the Sedu is about $130, and just as great as the GHD.
