Hi there. This is long and i apologize in advance! I have naturally thick, straight-ish hair and I am a brunette who desperately always wanted to be platinum blonde. My sister is a cosmetologist(a very good one at that) and she has been doing blonde highlights/lowlights/baby lights of some sort mixed with a balayage or ombré for years with no issue. I had my thyroid removed in 2015, and around 2017, my hair started to fall out badly. After spending 6 hours having my sister color my hair(bleach, tone, the usual) it broke off and felt like wet spaghetti. My sister said it was likely something metabolic, or something my body is lacking causing it which I agree. Anyways, I started doing keratin infused extensions for the majority of my color and to gain length. My hair is naturally a decent length(below my shoulder blades/mid back) but I can’t keep it long AND color it so I have been using extensions for the past few years. I love them, especially because I love adding fun colors like lavender and pinks and blues. I was in the hospital a few weeks ago for 5 days and had my hair in a bun which resulted in severe matted knots from not brushing my extensions. I’ve tried all conditioners and I can’t find anything to make my hair easier to brush. Any recommendations for maybe a good mask to help make it manageable and a vitamin for hair loss? I’ve tried Bondi Boost vitamins and didn’t hate them but can’t say yet if they are helping. My scalp is oily, ends dry. I lose so much hair everyday(both brushing and just existing that I don’t know how I have as much as I do). I use tangle teezers and wet brushes, limit my washes and using hot tools. I’m having my extensions removed in a 5 weeks to reapply but I need some help to get it manageable. I only use high end, salon quality products. Thanks!

Hair loss is usually a multifaceted issue so I’ll give some general recs. But I would definitely consider giving Vegamour GRO Hair Serum for Thinning Hair 1 oz / 30 mL a try. I saw results after about 1 month. You must stay consistent. If you can use it every day - better. Give yourself a nice scalp massage (5-10 minutes) after application. They might be cheaper in their direct website since they sell in bulk. Eat a well balanced diet (high protein, health fats, omega 3s) Exercise Manage stress Avoid tight hairstyles, try to not always have your hair up Switch up the part in your hair Consider having labs done/checking thyroid health or hormone imbalances @greeneyedgirl107

YES!!! No doubt that Olaplex 3 caused my hair to start dropping like crazy. After every my Wet Brush was full. My pillow would be covered. Every time I brushed my hair I would notice significant loss. I had a thyroid panel done and even added supplements and hormones with no success. As I racked my brain for the cause I realized the only change I had made to my hair care routine was to use the Olaplex 3 on the ends of my hair. The irony is that my hair wasn’t particularly damaged I was just using it for prevention. As soon as I stopped using it my hair loss returned to normal. And it wasn’t until I figured out what was going on that I searched online and found so many postings regarding the connection between hair and Olaplex products.

Hi! That’s actually common, your scalp must be dry (dandruff) and overcompensating by producing more oil/sebum (greasy). You need to focus on learning to balance your hair washing schedule & scalp health I just discovered Pro Youth Hair and Scalp Mask by coco and eve (not sold at Sephora 😞 and it’s been a real lifesaver!!! You can also try JVN Complete Pre-Wash Scalp & Hair Strengthening Treatment Oil 1.7 oz/ 50 mL (I know it’s scary using an oil on greasy hair, but try it. Double shampoo well!)Finding Some sort of hydrating scalp product is keyyyDouble cleanse your hair if it’s extra dirty/full of productMassage shampoo in well in circular motions, with pads of your finger tips Avoid showering with hot water (drying) Hair Wash frequency: do what works for you. Experiment. I used to try and stretch to 4 days but I find that every 2-3 days works for me. I don’t like to wait until it’s super dirty, or wash too early too often You can also consider a dandruff drugstore shampoo I’ve also heard good things about Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo 12 oz / 354 ml Best of luck! 🫶🏽
