What products should I use for hair breakage

My hair is breaking off in strands because of using the rusty pipe from my dorm showers. I stopped using the shower in my dorm a week ago so I have good water now, but my hair is still breaking off in strands. It has been very bad in the last couple of days. Does anyone know what products I should buy to fix it? I was thinking a hair mask may help. Thanks!
