Thinning Hair + Encouraging Regrowth

I have noticed my (already super fine and thin) hair looking even more sparse. As I near 40, I want to make sure I am doing what I can to keep my hair follicles functioning as long as possible! I’ve been using The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Lash and Brow Serum along my hair line but decided to look into other options specific to scalp care. I did not expect Sephora to have as many products available for hair loss as they do! Topical, oral supplements, shampoos, massagers- I’m overwhelmed! If anyone has any great recommendations or advice on what worked for them, I would greatly appreciate it!

Re: Thinning Hair + Encouraging Regrowth

FYI, the ordinary has a similar formula in a larger bottle intended for the scalp:

https://www.sephora.com/ca/en/product/P442831

but do make sure to:

1. get appropriate bloodwork done to make sure you are at a good place with respect to hormones, micro and macronutrients

2. to add on to the point above, it's important to eat a sufficient amount of protein for your bodyweight (https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/how-much-protein-do-you-need-every-day-201506188096) because hair is mostly protein, and the body will stop supporting hair growth if there is not enough protein for the more vital organs.

3. exercise is important for blood flow to the hair follicles.

4. scalp massage (with fingertips, not nails - you can massage when you apply the ordinary serum).

5. wash your hair frequently enough for your hair type - sebum on the scalp has DHT, which inhibits hair growth. buildup also clogs the hair follicles, inhibiting growth. if you have dry hair, you can use a light conditioner with water-soluble silicones in between washes to help add some moisture back into the hair.

6. studies have shown that both peppermint and rosemary essential oils help reduce hair fall/improve hair growth. you will need to add them to a carrier oil (like almond, avocado, jojoba oils) - do NOT put the undiluted essential oils directly on the scalp! you can let the combination sit on your scalp as a pre-shampoo for a half hour. please do a patch test prior to using the combo on your scalp to test whether you might have an allergic reaction!!!!

good luck!!

@guyfawksey  I have to echo what @katyruddrn said - this is fantastic advice! I knew very little of this. Thank you!
