Straight hair to curly

I have straight hair.  When I curl it, it does not curl with a curling iron.  Is there any product or machine other than a curling iron that would get my hair from straight to curly?

@deepa2010 Is your hair texture very soft/silky? Normally we strive to have soft hair, however when it comes to creating texture in the hair, when the cuticles are all laying flat it makes it difficult to heat style the hair.
