Silk or satin pillowcase?

HI BIC, One of my resolutions is to take better care of my hair. Iโ€™m experimenting with a satin pillowcase and I hate it. Anyone have an opinion to shareโ€” pro or con?

Re: Silk or satin pillowcase?

I agree with Darlyndar, Nurse Jamieโ€™s pillow is a great choice. The only downside is that itโ€™s not moisture-wicking, so it can become uncomfortable if youโ€™re hot. Regardless, I still use it every single night and it has greatly reduced breakage.

@ShiraBT Silk is the way to go! Especially if you wear extensions. I recommend Nurse Jamieโ€™s silk pillow to all my clients. It helps with frizz, tangles and aides in extensions from knotting up. It also helpsyour skin! Your face fits into the curve so youโ€™re not smashed into your pillow like most people sleep, in turn, helps reduce wrinkles! Itโ€™s small enough for travel and comes in leopard print. Thatโ€™s what I own and loooooove it! This is my absolute must have.

Re: Silk or satin pillowcase?

Hi there,

I've been using both satin and silk pillowcases for years. I have to say satin barely compares to silk pillowcases. Satin pillowcases will still have you wake up with some kind of "bed head" but silk will keep your blow out intact for days. Silk doesn't have as many molecular fibers that can cling to your hair/skin as you sleep making it 100% more luxurious and overall more effective. Although silk is a bit more expensive, it's definitely the better option if your concerned about your hair, skin, and aging.
