Purple shampoo

Is purple shampoo meant for only blondes? Can someone with really dark brown/black use it?

Hey there! Stylist here. It won’t harm your hair, however there is just no reason to. If you are in a pinch and all you have is purple shampoo, absolutely, go for it. But in terms of benefits other then cleansing, there are none. If you are a brunette and wanting to neutralize brassy hues in your hair, there are blue shampoos marketed towards you. dpHUE Cool Brunette Blue Shampoo

Thank you to @mickeymouse7383 for asking this question and to @GG84 for your response. I received a sample packet of purple shampoo and haven’t used it for fear it might do damage to my very dark tresses. I try to use up samples, especially shampoos and conditioners where I can.

if you are looking for a shampoo to remove the reddish orange tones in your brunette hair you can use purple shampoo but blue shampoo might be more effective for you.

@mickeymouse7383 You CAN use a purple shampoo but why would you want one?  I'm curious about your reasoning.
