Purple Shampoo for Blonde hair

I have a very simple question, what has been your experience with purple shampoos that counteract brassiness in blonde hair and which one did you try?

Re: Purple Shampoo for Blonde hair

As another BTer mentioned - Fanola No Yellow Shampoo works WONDERS. It can be drying so I only use it 1/week or once every 2 weeks.  I let it sit for about 5-10 min and then follow it up with a moisturizing hair mask.

Lush's Daddy-O shampoo also worked really well prior to finding Fanola.

Don't know if you can still catch it, but today is the last day for Ulta's Jumbo sale. I've got east asian black hair professionally balayaged to an ashy blonde (most of the time). I've found the best purple shampoo for me is absolutely Joico Purple Shampoo. Very very deep purple, I massage it in for 5 minutes, rinse, and follow up with color-protectant conditioner (not the purple conditioner, does nothing for me and makes my hair feel like crap). The ashier my color, the more frequently I wash with purple shampoo vs regular. Joico makes blue and violet shampoos too, the blue does nothing for me and I've never tried the violet.

My colorist also introduced me to Fanola No Yellow Shampoo. Intensely, inky purple, definitely will stain your hands. A little bit drying, smells sort of weird, so I only use it occasionally and follow up with a mask.

I have naturally dark brown hair that has been (mostly) blonde for almost five years and I swear by the Davines Alchemic Silver shampoo & conditioner!

RE: Purple Shampoo for Blonde hair

Hi! so i've had blonde hair for years now and always struggled to keep the brassy tones away! i have found a LIFE CHANGING product by Milkshake! it's a purple shampoo and works wonders!!! i swear by it and i truly recommend! hope this helps!

Re: Purple Shampoo for Blonde hair

I have coloured hair that I bleach to ensure the right shade (all done at a salon) and I love purple shampoo to combat brassiness. I find using a quarter size amount directly onto your roots and another quarter size amount to your tips (more if you have longer hair) will due the trick. Massage it in and leave it up to 5 minutes (unless stated otherwise on the bottle). Though do not use it on freshly dyed or bleached hair; wait 2 weeks after colouring. The difference in the shampoos is the concentration of the toner, scent, and ingredients. I use the L'Oreal and Maybeline shampoos with a very gentle and hydrating conditioner to follow up. Certain brands have specific conditioners to lock in the toner as well.
