Oily hair hours after showering

So I have oily and frizzy hair mere hours after showering. I don’t put conditioner on my roots, I don’t shower everyday, I don’t use heat products, I don’t use creams masks or oils and I don’t touch my hair. I don’t wash my hair everyday because then it over produces oils. I have no idea what to do anymore because I will shower at 1 pm and it’s greasy and stringy 30 minutes later. I also wash out my conditioner with cold water. Can anyone recommend me a new shampoo or conditioner to help with my greasy hair. It’s humiliating to go into the school bathroom and see how oily my hair has gotten.

@alexandradolan,

I know how you feel! I started to use a scalp scrub and I noticed that my blow out lasted a lot longer and also my hair was less oil. I recommend using it before shampooing and around the hair line.

RE: Oily hair hours after showering

What I can say is, i feel the older I get the greasier my hair is feeling I have to wash EVERY DAY.. what I’ve been using that helps is - head and shoulder shampoo. Also - dish soap works wonders and last days without washing!! But I do know these aren’t the healthiest ways for your hair so I am still searching for a product that will benefit my healthy hair but in mean time that is what I use!! Hope that helps 😊

Re: Oily hair hours after showering

@alexandradolan   I wonder if your shampoo contains any silicones or dimethicones?  Those are pretty popular chemicals that are added to shampoos and conditioners because they coat the hair follicles and seal in moisture and can help make the hair look smoother and less tangled.

Those are the good results of silicones; they also attract dirt and make the hair get oily quicker.

I can tell you about some products I've recently used that seem to extend the number of clean hair days I have.  I have dry, damaged hair but an oily scalp.

I was gifted the Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner by Sephora last year.  Whenever I use these two products, my hair stays cleaner looking longer than when I use any other shampoo.  I can't explain it, but I know some of the other BIC members who received this felt the same way.

Last week I tried these products for the first time: Living Proof Amp Instant Texture Volumizer and Instant Texture Mist, using both after my shampoo and conditioner.

I used the Amp Instant Texture first- definitely follow the instructions and only use a little.  It  gave my hair more volume without changing the appearance, which was what I wanted.  I then sprayed the Texture Mist on my hair, and that gave me a little separation and recurling of my hair.  The two products together seemed to get rejuvenated with some humidity from our weather.  I was very pleased that my hair didn't even look like it needed washed three days later (but I washed it anyway.)  🙂

Oily hair hours after showering

I have the same problem I need a new shampoo and conditioner or something to help with the oily hair.

Re: Oily hair hours after showering

@alexandradolan what shampoo/conditioner do you use? Hair type? It's your scalp that needs balancing, it's causing the overproduction of oil. Phyto has a scalp oil for that. (Oil binds to oil, water and oil repel) Aveda composition oils are made for the whole body.

Any clarifying shampoo?
