Help with damaged hair from hard water

Hi!! I used to have thick black hair and now my hair is more of a dark red brown, lately my hair falls out a lot when I wash it, and I know this is more than normal. My new place has hard water and shampoos don’t seem to be working. I would love some advice: shampoos, conditioners, oils, treatments, etc. experience with shower filters, showersticks etc

I have the Sprite shower filter that @GG84 recommended, and it made such a huge difference! I was truly surprised at how much better my hair got.

Hard water is the WORST! Hairstylist here. Gosh, it takes an incredible toll on the hair. Water softeners unfortunately use salt to soften, which is a mineral that further deposits into the hair. 
Go to your local hardware store or check Amazon for a Sprite Shower Head water filter. It works - I have one on ever shower head + a water softener. You also need to find a salon that uses Malibu products and ask for a Crystal Gel Treatment to be done on your hair - this process takes 45 mins and will remove ALL mineral deposits from hard water, medication etc from the hair and give you a clean slate. Your hair will feel and look brand new. Do not get this done until you have installed the shower filter otherwise you will redeposit everything back into your hair.
