Help please. curly hair on the loose

I have curly hair and when it becomes cold and or when it rains, my hair becomes really puffy and frizzy. What can I use to maintain it?

I have had thick. puffy, frizzy, dry, curly hair all my life, and I finally have it under control, and can wear it down in any weather.

#1 shampoo: sulfates are the enemy.

"No-poo's" like Deva curl will leave it dirtier than before you washed it, and will take handfulls of sudsless glop to saturate your hair.

Sulfate-free shampoos are great. I have dry ends and a greasy scalp and can wash my hair every day without damage.  If money is no object, Matrix Biolage Delicate Care shampoo and ultra-hydrating conditioner is liquid gold and smells like heaven. On a budget, Organix shampoos are great and can be gotten at target, wal-mart and walgreens. I use the grapefruit mango butter shampoo and conditioner. I really don't just love loreal ever pure (most advertised sulfate free shampoo). Sulfate free shampoos get your hair CLEAN without that puffy, raw texture that makes you pile on the conditioner and products.

#2 Mixed chicks leave in conditioner. I order it from mixedchicks.net. So far I haven't seen it in stores. Maybe ethnic beauty parlors? (i'm caucasian BTW) I heard about it first in Lucky magazine. I couldn't live without it. It's somewhere between a leave in conditioner and styling cream. Unlike other curl styling products it doesn't make your hair greasy, crispy or wet looking. 

#3 Towel dry, diffuse, air dry, or blow out with a boar bristle round brush. I'm a fan of air drying on my long commute. 

I get a ton of compliments on my hair. I'm working in a children's hospital right now and all the little girls want to play with my hair. When my girlfriends meet me in a bar they're more likely to grab a handful of hair first than give me a hug.

My friend loves Ouidad's curl system.  If I ever stopped flat ironing my very wavy hair, that'd be the first product I'd try!

Living Proof did not work for me, though it does work for many people. What does work for me is Ouidad! I use the humidity gel and sometimes the pomade too. My curls are finally defined and frizz free!!!

@Chrissy11, Have you tried Living Proof’s No Frizz Collection for wave shaping and curl defining? The products create a shield that locks moisture out of the hair shaft, keeping hair smooth in wet or humid weather.
