Hair care product for straightening

I just started straightening my hair because of my new hair style, but I was just curious as to what I should put in my hair to prevent split ends or any other damages associated with flat irons/heat. Thank youu!

Heat protectants are your best bet.  I like Fekkai's Coiff Defense on wet hair, and to follow with a silicone serum like Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum.  Then, use heat protectant on dry hair prior to flat iron use - I ADORE Redken's Iron Silk.  Other than that, there isn't much left to do except to treat your hair gently...don't tug on your hair, don't let the flat iron linger on one spot for too long and get regular hair trims to **bleep** split ends in the bud before they start traveling up the hair shaft.  Hair masks are another good bet to make hair more resiliant.
