Fighting flat iron frizz

I have a ethnic hair (super kinky afro style), but I have my hair cut into a pixie with long bangs. I flat iron the bangs, but I try to avoid flat ironing more than once a week. The first time I do it, on the first day, it's relatively close to what I want. Shiny, straight, and with minimal frizz. However, after that first day, it frizzes out like mad the next day and subsequently there-after.

For reference, here's how I do my hair, and take care of it post-iron. I shower, use L'oreal's EverSleek Sulfate Free shampoo and then Giovanni's "Wellness System" conditioner. I blowdry it straight with BedHead's Control Freak serum, then flat iron with Sexy Straight Hair Power Straight balm. After that I just condition it every day with a leave in spray conditioner from Giovanni. I've tried using the BioSilk silk drop stuff, but all it does is make my hair look shiny. It doesn't even touch the frizz (which is irritating considering I spent $14 on that tiny bottle).

I had seen that from another frizz-specific question, but I was hoping I could find a cheaper option. I have a hard time justifying spending $36 on an 8oz bottle of, well, anything, really.
