Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

A spray powder. In essence, I’m looking for an in between washes spray that doesn’t absorb oil. Rather, I’m looking for something in the realm of a hair freshener. My hair and scalp are dry, so I try to go a couple days in between washes. Still, I’d like to freshen my hair everyday. So, I guess it would be something like Febreze for hair, if that makes sense.

Thanks in advance!

Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

Another person posted but I have dry hair & Amika is best I've tried.

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

@radleyas Maybe you should look into products that are specific hair perfumes rather than dry shampoos?

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

I did not know that was a thing. I shall go hunting. Thank you!

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

It sounds like you found a solution, but just in case, Amika has a dry shampoo foam that they advertise as hydrating for the scalp. I haven't tried it, but it might be something to consider?

Yes. Amika is the best dry shampoo for me & I have dry hair as well.

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

Oh! That’s a neat idea too. Thank you for the tip. I’ll go check that out now!

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

Hi @radleyas

All dry shampoo’s need a powder base to absorb the oil...The DIFFERENCE being the type used.

Rice powder WILL NOT leave a white chalky residue in your hair. As far as looking just for a ‘refresher’ or hair perfume in essence, watch out for the alcohol content. That will end up wrecking havoc on your dry hair/scalp. My personal choice would be to look for a dry shampoo with rice powder, there are tons.

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

@radleyas - i have extremely short hair also (1” on top and buzzed on sides and back) and absolutely love r + co’s badlands dry shampoo paste. sephora doesn’t carry it, but you can find it at nordstrom or amazon. it’s an awesome combo of dry shampoo and styling product all at once. it’s all i need for day two or three hair and doesn’t show at all (i have medium brown hair).

a container of it has literally lasted me well over a year, and i am only halfway through. it literally pays to have short hair 😬

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

That sounds kinda amazing! I have salt and pepper hair, so I’d imagine whatever color it is would get a camouflage thing happening. Because mine is so short, but thick and a bit frizzy, I’m always on the lookout for a good styling product. Thank you for the tip!! Off to Nordstrom dot com ... 👍🏻😊

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

@radleyas - i too have crazy thick hair with a heavy wave, and find this is also a good tamer. it’s white in color but warms to the touch and becomes invisible in application. let me know what you think when you’ve taken a look!

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

Just read the description. Shared it with my husband (he and I have more or less the same hair, so that makes things easy). We bought a jar! Thank you for this awesome suggestion!

@radleyas

Klorane just came out with one; I had a mini sample, and liked it enough to pick up a full size. It's like a breath mint for your hair!

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

PERFECT! And I like that it appears to be a “clean” product. Wonderful. Thank you so much! 👍🏻😊

Hi @radleyas,

I suggest the Verb Dry Shampoo. I like the tip applicator since it allow you to get closer to the root. It also has a slight citrus and wood scent to it.

Re: Dry shampoo that isn’t ...

I totally appreciate your comment, and I thank you. Unfortunately, that appears to still be a starch/powder based product. I’m looking for something with no powder. I should add that I have very short hair (2 inches), so anything with powder will show quite prominently, as well as dry out of scalp. But again, I thank you for taking the time to reply 😊
