Dandruff.. exfoliating shampoo??

Looking for suggestions of products to help with dandruff, have thought about trying Briogeo exfoliating shampoo but itโ€™s really expensive, and the negative reviews steer me away ๐Ÿ˜ž

Re: Dandruff.. exfoliating shampoo??

@Rebeccat1994 I can relate! Here are some recommendations that worked great for me. I try to rotate them so that my scalp/hair doesnโ€™t get use to any one product.

Nioxon Scalp Recovery cleanser -I buy this one from Ulta. Itโ€™s pricey but it is the most effective for me. My dandruff and itchy dry scalp went away completely and I finally feel confident about my hair! It is sold in different sizes so you can try the smaller size and see if it works for you.

I also use the Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo. It especially helped with my itchy scalp. I use this one less often though because Iโ€™m not a fan of the smell it has. Itโ€™s hard to describe-it smells like a type of cleaner and the smell lingers all day. Target also sells their own version of it but that one doesnโ€™t work as well for my dandruff compared the Neutrogena.

I hope that one of those 2 work for you!

Re: Dandruff.. exfoliating shampoo??

So my husband has a really dry scalp that was confused with dandruff forever. I had him use the briogeo scrub and it helped so much. I use it too and it keeps my scalp from breaking out.

If you have true dandruff, I'd go with the head and shoulders option before going to the $50 hair scrub route.

@Rebeccat1994  It's true, dandruff and dry scalp are not the same thing.  I'm going to make a drugstore recommendation here because I was tempted to buy Brigeo and opted not to.  Head and Shoulders makes a formula for dandruff and dry scalp together.  The regular Head and Shoulders didn't stop it, but the dry scalp formula did.  I'd try that before going to something more expensive.

Re: Dandruff.. exfoliating shampoo??

@Rebeccat1994dry scalp or dandruff, they aren't the same. Head and Shoulders is for dandruff, not dry scalp. Neutrogena t/gel is made for multiple issues and does work well. You could also dry brush the scalp first, to loosen up the flakes, before washing.

@Rebeccat1994,

I also recommend the IGK Low Key Cleansing Walnut Scalp Scrub! I noticed that my shampoo was not cleansing my scalp enough and this really helped extend the life of my blow out and I also noticed less flakes.

To get things under control I recommend the Neutrogena t/sal shampoo as it worked really well for me. You should only need one bottle. This product goes a long way.. good for immediate relief and results!

For upkeep after, I will use  Aveda's scalp benefits shampoo after 3 shampoos or so. Like a once every two weeks thing to keep the scalp buildup down.

If you are tight on budget, I'd say go with head and shoulders. I don't like their stuff but it does work for some folks. My scalp is just hella sensitive.
