Damaged splitting hair

I have struggled with split ends ever since I can remember, I have a silk pillowcase, get frequent cuts, and even invested in professional hair shears to cut them off as they appear. Are there any products that could help?

Do you use a heat protector before styling? Hair mask once a week? Gentle brushing from ends to root? A hair oil like Verbs Ghost oil is also great at locking in moisture and shine.
