Clarifying shampoo for hard well water

I have fine, porous, highlighted hair. I need to find a color safe clarifying shampoo o remove hard water deposits

Re: Clarifying shampoo for hard well water

@pirouette84 Pick up Malibu Hard Water Wellness at your local beauty supply. It will remove Chlorine, and any/all mineral deposits. However be warned - if you are rinsing your hair with the same water that is contaminated, there is no point in clarifying in the first place. You need yo address the source of the problem also.

Hi, @pirouette84

While I can't recommend a good clarifying shampoo, I would recommend a water filter for your shower head (If you can change it out). Sephora sells the T3 - Source Showerheadand replacement filters. You can also find water filters for shower heads on Amazon. I have one, and notice a HUGE difference in how the filtered water feels on my hair and skin.

Also - not sure what color your highlights are, but there are color-depositing shampoos and conditioners you can use to counteract any discoloration from hard water. The AMIKA - Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Shampooand the AMIKA - Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Conditionerare great for blonde highlights. The Eva NYC Tone it Down line is, as well.

One thing that helps when my shower filter is nearing replacement, is to do cider vinegar rinses. They help to remove build-up, restore the pH balance of your hair, and seal the cuticle.

Is the T3 shower head heavy?

Re: RE: Re: Clarifying shampoo for hard well water

Hi, @pirouette84

Unfortunately, I can't speak to the T3 - I have the old-school Jonathan Product one (which I think equates to the Aquasana one on Amazon). I have no problems changing it out myself, and it isn't too heavy to be mounted in place. The one we have is the mounted shower head - not the hand-held one.

We only have to change the filter out once every 3 - 4 mos. - but the life of the filter can vary by brand/product, and can also vary, depending on how many people use it, how long you typically shower, and how hard the water is. You can usually tell when it's time for a new one - the T3 filter actually shows when it needs to be replaced.

As far as the other poster's comment about the whole-house softener - not sure what your situation is - but while we have a whole-house softener, the water is so hard, there's no keeping up with the need to add salt. That's why we have the filter on the shower, as well.

you will replace ANY shower head and filter 1monce a mo.

You NEED a whole house filter for well water. & a fancy UV light filter?!

Reverse Osmosis under the sink. For the Synthetic Fluoride.

Best investment.

Too rich for your blood?

Shallow pocket tip:

Wash and Condition your Hair and & Body in the tub with/in the same water (or/not). "The same water? " Yes the same water. Just place a couple of Extra Large Binchotan charcoal in the tub.

Binchotan will filter your water just as good if not better.

You can always Reuse your Binchotan after a 2 weeks just boil in a pot of Distilled water for 10 min. remove and air dry.

*you can also use them to filter your room, fridge etc.

FYI Clarifying- chelating the majority of the heavy metals is very important.

Especially in cases like  "Hard water" & "Well water."
