Best resources for learning about hair science?

So, I recently learned about Lab Muffin Beauty Science from @WinglessOne and it got me interested in hair science.  Aside from Paula Begoun's Don't Go Shopping for Haircare Products without Me, I don't know of any other good resources.  (The last edition of that book was many years ago!)

I'd like to learn more about hair, and be advised on helpful products for my hair type.

I check Allure's articles (etc) but while it's a starting point, I feel like the product recommendations are often rather agenda-driven.

@greeneyedgirl107 the University if Virginia on their chemistry page has a great description of the basics of hair.  The NIH is another good place about the science of hair.  Maybe a great place to start

@greeneyedgirl107 I don't have any specific recommendations but have you checked Reddit? they have a whole subreddit about hair science. You can also look up books on trichology

@makeitup305 I'm not a big reddit fan, but have been looking into it more.  I'll have to check out that thread!  Also, thanks for the tip re the terms trichology...I hadn't thought of that!
