What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

@JoSometimes Thank you! Blueberry was the original berry in the recipe but I was craving blackberries lol. Maybe I'll try blueberry next time.

Re: What's on your plate?

So sorry @Samtian I completely mis-read that. Blackberries are great too!

Inspired by @sister13’s spam musubi from a while back. Chinese spam, Thai rice, Korean seaweed, Indonesian sweet soy sauce, and Japanese chilli powder were used to make this Hawaiian dish. It was a tour of the pacific rim! And then I washed it down with German beer. 😆

I didn’t have a press, so I tried to flatten the rice on a chopping board and used the spam can itself as a cookie cutter. It kind of worked but I think I really need to compress the rice better next time. Maybe a rolling pin or glass bottle.

Re: What's on your plate?

A tour of the Pacific Rim is a fun theme for your spam musubi @JoSometimes. And with a little European flair with the beer! 🍺 I first learned of Indonesian soy sauce when I was in school - a nice throwback memory for me.

Re: What's on your plate?

Thanks @itsfi! It’s surprisingly simple but very flavourful. I’m glad I could help you take a trip down memory lane. 😊

Re: What's on your plate?

Oh nice! @JoSometimes I’ve been making these pretty often lately!

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you again for the idea @sister13! They were delicious even if mine were falling apart.

Re: What's on your plate?

That looks yummy @JoSometimes I may need to get spam next week to make this!

Re: What's on your plate?

Can’t wait to see what you cook up with it @AznAngelLiz!

Re: What's on your plate?

@JoSometimes Looks delightful! I have a can of spam at home. Thank you for the inspiration. I would love to try making something with it.

Re: What's on your plate?

You’re welcome @Mellmars1185! I know spam has a bit of a reputation, but it’s pretty versatile.

Re: What's on your plate?

@JoSometimes I recently learned about how versatile it is. I was thinking of frying it and making a breakfast sandwich.

Re: What's on your plate?

That’s a good idea, and spam fried rice is a good option, too! @Mellmars1185

Re: What's on your plate?

@sister13 ohhh thank you for a great idea!

Re: What's on your plate?

Low-carbing it last night. Chicken lettuce wraps

Re: What's on your plate?

That looks delicious!! @AznAngelLiz

Re: What's on your plate?

@AznAngelLiz This looks tasty and healthy! What did you use to season the chicken?

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 @JoSometimes I don’t have exact measurements but I used oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha because I like it spicy, garlic powder, onion powder, and lots of black pepper. I also added a little bit of lime juice right before serving.

Re: What's on your plate?

@AznAngelLiz I love lettuce wraps. It’s a nice, fresh break from a carb-heavy, rice-filled diet. How did you season the chicken?

Re: What's on your plate?

Lettuce wraps are one of my favorite dishes @AznAngelLiz! Yours looks delicious!

And now I’m really hungry 😋

Made some egg drop soup for a gloomy day. It’s surprisingly easy to make. Get some chicken stock boiling, scramble some eggs and drizzle them into the soup, add a couple teaspoons of cornstarch to thicken, season with soy sauce and white pepper (can totally substitute salt and black pepper), then garnish with green onion. I added some mushrooms and tofu for more substance but you can add whatever protein or veggies you want.
