What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Beautiful dish! It looks so flavorful with so many incredible spices! I’m a fan of tuna as well there’s a deli a few blocks down from where I live I like to order some there. Hope you had an enjoyable outing with friends! Looks delicious! @CynthieLu ❤️

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you kindly @peculiarzmakeup I am a fan of delicious fish too.

Having a good deli near by is pretty special. I love places we can trust for something consistently tasty.

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu Wow, this plate is a work of art! I am a big fam of arugula, lime and cilantro. I have not tried that type of tuna before but it looks good! I hope you had a lovely lunch out 🥗

Re: What's on your plate?

I was off this week and I had a lot of food in the fridge that I wanted to salvage before it went bad. Yesterday I made a pack of bacon we took out for camping, but did not use. With the bacon, I made a broccoli salad and we used the rest of thw bacon on burgers for dinner. I also made a fruit salad with some very ripe fruit. I hope to take the fruit salad to work. Today I made a salad for dinner with chicken breasts (cooked in the air fryer). I found a vinaigrette I made in the fridge for the dressing.

Does anyone else dislike wasting food? What do you do to avoid waste?

It is hot here and using the BBQ and airfryer keep the house cool. What kind of meals do you make when the weather is hot 🔥🥵🌞?

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 I hate wasting food, too.  I bring in food to work that I don't have use for.  I also participate in an annual USPS food drive - they pick it up at your house!  I'm certainly guilty of food waste, but I try.

Re: What's on your plate?

@greeneyedgirl107 Bring food to work is such a sma idea. There is always someone who will help themselves, which is awesome! It works for you and the hungry co-worker. Participating in the food drive would br so helpful to the community. I imagine rewarding for you also!

I also try my best but have to throw away food sometimes too. It bothers me so much. I would like to look into how I can help more. I used to donate to my sons food drive at school. He is finished school now, so I need to find something else. Thanks for sharing! 💝

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 I'm fortunate that my neighborhood is having a food drive this month.  It's so nice to have something in summer.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185  It's funny you mention that.  I grew up without air conditioning, and I remember how big of a deal the heat was in the summer.  To this day, even with air conditioning, I think I have an "off switch" in my brain regarding cooking in the summer. Which is a shame considering all of the fresh produce available (but honestly, I'm running out of ideas for how to use cucumbers, and I don't have much more room for freezer pickles.)

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 I hear you about not cooking in the summer. Itl bet it was important not to heat up the house too much. Do you have any favourite meals from growing up in the summer?  I love grilled vegetables skewers in the summer. Or a caprese salad with cucumbers 🥒🥗🍅?
