What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? Smiley Very Happy

Re: What's on your plate?

I was too hungry to take a picture, but I made am awesome roasted chicken, cornbread stuffing, green beans and gravy (from scratch).   It was sooooooo good. Now I'm assembling recipes and starting my shopping list for Thanksgiving. Smiley Happy

Re: What's on your plate?

Cornbread!!! O_O WANT!

Re: What's on your plate?

It was pretty good.  I just found a recipe for the Pioneer Woman's stuffing in my Food Network magazine that I'm going to try for Thanksgiving.   It has cornbread, French bread and ciabatta bread. Mmmmmmm .

Re: What's on your plate?

image.jpgSpinach Frittata and chopped salad. I added a little black truffle oil to the salad before I tossed it up.

Re: What's on your plate?

Mmm, that spinach frittata looks so yummy! It makes me think of the spinach-quiche tortilla pie thing I made! What all did you put in yours?

Re: What's on your plate?

Spinach, shallot, portabella, yellow bell pepper, Herbes de Provence, a touch of garlic And 3 shakes of chipotle tabasco.  I did not have much shredded mozzarella but that's browned on top. No crust, I do mine on stove top in a big nonstick skillet, sautee things, add 16 beaten, strained eggs then gently fold in large curds until 1/2 set, then top with the cheese and finish in the oven for 10 min, it's fast.  I make the salad while it's baking. 8 servings, 20 min to table.

Re: What's on your plate?

I'm sick & feel icky so my dad made me pot roast. Nothing like comfort food when you feel sick.

Re: What's on your plate?

DROOOOOL

Re: What's on your plate?

It was pretty good.  The only thing that would have made it better would have been some good yeast rolls.

Re: What's on your plate?

1 Giant white peach

1 Banana

Homemade almond milk

Chia seed

So delicious!

Re: What's on your plate?

Chia! ^_^

Mmmm, white peach!

Re: What's on your plate?

That looks delicious, malday! I always put chia seeds in my smoothies too! I find that they really help keep me full. Smiley Happy

Re: What's on your plate?

Last night my bf whipped up some yummy soba noodle stir-fry with chicken, mushrooms, and bok choy!

I must have been hungrier than I thought because I downed my bowl quicker than normal!

Also, I'm saddened the cream of chicken and wild rice soup at Panera has changed. Smiley Sad It's not creamy and thick anymore, it's all brothy.

Re: What's on your plate?

I hate it when places reformulate. :/ I have a guilty addiction to the minestrone at Olive Garden. If they changed that, I would never visit one ever again. Ever. So Serious. Because I would sooner go to Buca di Beppo for Italian.

Re: What's on your plate?

I know!!! I thought they gave me chicken noodle at first but nope, there was rice!

Re: What's on your plate?

Brussels sprout, wheat berry, and cranberry salad! It's been so cold here that I've been dying for fall foods. This had an apple cider and cinnamon dressing. So so good!

Re: What's on your plate?

That looks amazing!  I love Brussels sprouts.  It's a very fall-y meal Smiley Happy

Please pass me a plate!

Re: What's on your plate?

Today was a good day..

We had crab for dinner and now I'm watching Gilda...plus, I didn't even have to use my AK.

Today was a good day.

20141118_181806.jpg

My dad has a friend that goes crabbing and fishing (same guy that gave us that huge chunk of salmon meat.) and he is a wonderful man! (He also kills them and cleans them for us!)

I discovered the easiest way to cook them.

Crab Recipe

Spoiler

After they're cleaned & boiled, rinse them off and start breaking off legs.

I use a pelon (a mortar and pestle? the baton part) and I crack the shells along the edges, removing any smaller shards of shell.

In a large pan (med. heat), I put about 3 to 4 Tbs. of butter and let it out turn golden brown.

Next comes the seasoning. Trader Joe's Everyday Seasoning (ingredients are under the Salmon recipe below) goes into the pan, then the crab.

After the crab comes more seasonings like ground ginger powder, ground garlic powder, dried and minced onions, and pepper.

Flip everybody around, making sure to coat everything and turn up the hit a little and add a few Tbs. of water to steam; cover with foil, reduce heat and let steam/simmer for about 10 minutes.

Serve and add the butter/juice/water from the pan to the plates..dip bread in that and be happy.
