What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

I tried Trader Joe's new boneless ham, a limited edition product.  Lots of glaze mix in the packet; very sweet.  Pretty good, but I prefer their full spiral sliced hams.

Re: What's on your plate?

Our Canadian BIC beauties celebrated Thanksgiving last week. This past Sunday, I decided to try my hand at making poutine in celebration with them. I forgot how rich and filling this dish is; I had to pause after a few bites and then passed it (and the remaining batch) along to friends watching football that day. And then I went for a walk and then a nap. And then another walk. 😂

This has got to be one of the ultimate forms of comfort food. I elected not to include any meat in this version.

An up close view. Next time I will try deep frying the potatoes and going with traditional (?) white cheddar cheese curds. And, by next time, at least a month has to pass us by. At least one.

In all its gooey goodness!

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi  Mmmmmmm poutine!  You could have convinced fed me that was straight from Montreal!

(It’s really all about the gravy and curds!). The fries just serve as a delivery system.  If you wanna cut down on the food coma (or if you can’t eat potatoes without consequences) substitute cauliflower under the good stuff;)  ha but if it serves as motivation to get out walking then that’s a good thing right?

Re: What's on your plate?

Walking is a good thing indeed @heartsmyface. I don't think I have a potato intolerance - gosh, I hope not - I've not had one in the past, but that doesn't mean I can't have one now. 🤔 I may try it with cauliflower another time. Or, just not make or eat so much poutine next time. 😂

Re: What's on your plate?

Poutine is a heavy dish, and great for sharing @itsfi Yours looks great and so delicious. I feel like I can smell it from looking at the pictures, Well done! 🤩

We have a chip truck open all year round by my work ( they are winter time hero's) after seeing this I need to make a visit today 😁 I got a craving!

Re: What's on your plate?

You have a fries food truck near you @CynthieLu?! That would be dangerous for me. 🍟 Is your chips food truck just by itself or is it one of a handful in a space dedicated to food trucks?

Re: What's on your plate?

In my work area there are 3 food trucks scattered, and only the one that is permanent, and open once it gets cold. They are in a great space right in front of a major hospital and bus stop. They used to be just a truck but somehow over the decades secured a permanent location. I've never seen a space in my city designated for food trucks but that sounds like a great idea, and would offer people a fun selection of yummy tastes. I've actually never been anywhere like that, except at fairs or festivals. It sounds so fun! 😍 @itsfi

Re: What's on your plate?

Wow, @itsfi, that looks pro-level!

Re: What's on your plate?

@CookieGirl1, thank you. There's a good recipe for poutine gravy on the Seasons and Suppers website. It calls for a mix of both beef stock and chicken stock in the gravy which I'll try next time; I just used beef stock.

Re: What's on your plate?

Haha,  my dear husband is giving me room service while I’m banished!! This is my dinner!  I’m not complaining!  Room service is an act of love. 😂🤣

Re: What's on your plate?

lololol, the chicken looking at the chicken - that rotisserie is not for you mr. chicken puppet. 😮

That's super thoughtful and sweet of misterheart. Hope you are feeling better @heartsmyface

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi   Oh my gosh was I rude and not introduce you two?  I’m so sorry!!!  Her name is Peaches!  Yeah that’s right!  I took peaches over the border!  😆. Oh and peaches can’t read so she doesn’t know if you know what I mean.

As funny as the food presentation was, I did enjoy it for a good three meals.

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface hope you ate better soon

Re: What's on your plate?

@CorgiMommy  Ha I am not sure if this was a typo but me too.  Me too!

Re: What's on your plate?

Banished?? @heartsmyface That sounds rough even with room service.🍗 🍽️   If your under the weather, I hope you feel better soon!

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu  Thank you.  I have Covid.  Banished.  Solitary confinement. 😜. I’m not allowed to traverse the house without a single red line pass.
My husband doesn’t cook so the meals are all ready made finds from the grocery store.  It would have looked prettier had the chicken been removed from the bag.  The side dishes have consisted of little plastic cups with precut veggies and ranch.
it could be worse.

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface @I hope you recover soon. 🌹 Your husband has more brownie points than mine. Last time I was sick I got a happy meal 😂🤣 from McDonald and some instant noodles 😂🤣

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface  Your husband has good taste (a perfectly browned chicken,) and a good heart.  Guess it comes with the name. 😍

I know two people that caught covid from plane rides lately.  I hope you heal quickly!

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6  Thank you.   Oh no I hope it was mild for them!   I think it was caught on an end of trip side quest going off when symptoms started but there’s no real way of knowing.  I’ve got a much lower viral load today so here’s hoping tomorrow I will be released!  This time it wasn’t so so bad though I did have Covid in the summer so I was still pretty amped up on antibodies.

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface  It catches me off guard how it seems like covid starts in late spring and it just doesn't stop until the next spring.  Hopefully this year will be different.  And I'm very glad you have antibodies.
