Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄
@bakeamuffin those look like something you would get in Italy. I started making pizza on the grill. It is delicious
@bakeamuffin I remember you posting about these before! That's quite an art to be able to bake those on the bbq.
@bakeamuffin ooh, homemade pizza, yum! I love homemade pizza, my mom makes the best ones - like you said, it's even better than takeout! I bet these were absolutely delicious!
Oh wow @bakeamuffin these look fantastic! Lucky family! You may have to share your recipe with us someday!!
They look amazing!! @bakeamuffin 😍 Your kids are so lucky. Homemade pizza is such a treat! 🍕
Wow! These look incredible! You got the crust so perfect, beautiful toppings! I think that is so neat! Did you have a favorite slice? There’s something so amazing about homemade. 🫶 Glad to hear everyone enjoyed ❤️ @bakeamuffin
That lunch sounds delicious! I'm having grilled chicken with quinoa and a side salad today. For anyone looking to manage portions, check out BetterMe's 1200-calorie diet plan. It offers detailed meal options and guidance, blending balanced nutrition with weight management. Enjoy eating healthily!
More adventures in baking 🍞
My sister gifted me some of her mother dough starter when she visited us up here from all the way in Texas mid summer. I've had a lot of fun and definitely enjoyed eating the fresh results. 😊
I decided to try to convert the starter to Whole Wheat. That's the bread we really prefer most. I could have just made whole wheat bread with the starter the way it was but after some research I felt a full wheat starter would be fun to try.
It only took a few days for it to look ready to bake and I think it turned out so well.
@CynthieLu The crumb looks fantastic- light and airy. Did you use the natural yeast (in the air) method?
I'm not sure lol @Ispend2much6 so most likely no. I'm a total bread newbie. I just feed it and when it's at it's peak activity I make it into a dough. I just fold it over itself every 30 minutes for a few hours and when it's big a proofed I pop it in the oven.
What is the 'in the air' method. Google wouldn't tell me 😅
@CynthieLu I'm not sure of the official term, lol, but it's when you don't add commercial yeast, your starter just soaks in the natural yeast in the air. I've even read that if your house is too clean, that method won't work! I should be pumping out sourdough at record speed then. 😉
That is how sourdough was made way back when there was no yeast made that was available to purchase. I've never tried that.
Thank you for explaining that 🙏 Oooh I think then yes, that's what I'm doing. I only feed it flour when I'm planning to use it, other wise it's back in the fridge. @Ispend2much6
I'm not adding yeast and it just does it's own thing bubbling away. I have it out today because I'm hoping to make a fresh loaf tomorrow.
From what you say, that's why mine must grow so well 😂
@CynthieLu So you never gave it any yeast, or used a mother from someone else that had yeast?
That is very impressive! I wonder if mine would taste bad, for the reasons we discussed. 😉
I may have to try this. The only fermented foods I've made are yogurt and water kefir, which is sugar-based (added fresh lemon juice to it.) It's a pain, but it definitely is a strong probiotic for the stomach. Great if you're avoiding dairy. And most of the sugar is broken down.
Ooh if I didn't say my sister gave me some of her mother dough, I don't know much about it but she made it herself and brought some with her on her last visit to Canada.
She convinced me it wouldn't be tricky to start using, luckily she was available for lots of long distance trouble shooting at the start. 😉 @Ispend2much6
I just feed it unbleached flour and distilled water when I want it active and put it to sleep in the fridge if I'm not planning on feeding it everyday.
@CynthieLu that looks amazing, fresh baked homemade bread is always so wonderful! How fun that your sister gave you some of her bread starter too, that's a sweet way to share something with your sister who lives far away 🙂
Aww thank you! You're so right. It's been really nice connecting over baking adventures long-distance. @caitbird 💝 And she has been really cool about troubleshooting the issues I had learning at the start to. 😉
Thank you @Sunnysmom it's been so nice having fresh bread at home 😀
@CynthieLu This bread looks fresh and delicious. There is something very comforting about warm bread, fresh out of the oven 🍞
That is one of the best parts about making it @Mellmars1185 The smell of it being is like a warm hug. 🥰
