Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄
Thank you!! Forever inspired by the cheese pizzas in Disney movies growing up @JoSometimes ! 🤩
This looks amazing @bakeamuffin ! What kind of cheese did you use to stuff the crust?
@Mellmars1185 @I used mozzarella but I really want to do provolone next time, it’s such a yummy cheese that melts really nicely too! You can’t go wrong with mozzarella though!
Omorice is my current culinary Mt. Everest. If you’re not sure what omorice is, it’s deceptively simple; an egg omelette on a bed of rice. The challenge is getting the right consistency for the omelette. It’s cooked so that the inside is still kind of “wet” and creamy. When you slice it down the middle, it’s supposed to just unzip itself and open over the top of the rice (plenty of YouTube videos if you want to see this). I can sometimes make it right, but usually overcook it so that it’s just a regular omelette. Timing is everything!
I managed to get it almost perfect today. I put it over a bed of leftover fried rice from last night and topped it with tonkatsu sauce. I made a second one that I garnished a little better with sesame seeds and chives but forgot to snap a photo.
Your egg looks so light and fluffy @JoSometimes! Excellent job! 😋
@itsfi Thank you! This turned out surprisingly well. Most of the time I miss this by a minute or two and they’re not the same.
Your cooking skills are impressive @JoSometimes. You present your dishes esthiticaly pleasing to the eye and I bet very pleasing to the taste buds. A feast for your eyes and stomach 😉😊 yum!!
Aww thank you @CynthieLu! You pick up a thing or two when all you watch for 2 years because of a global pandemic is HGTV and Food Network. 😉
I’ve always loved cooking though. It’s part of my eclectic collection of hobbies and skills.
@JoSometimes Your omurice looks great! I’m sure it tasted as good as it looks.
I love runny yolks in just about anything, so you’d think omurice wouldn’t be a challenge for me to cook. But on both my attempts, I overcooked the eggs and thought how does someone who intentionally undercooks her eggs all the dang time manage to OVERcook this and I’m not quite over that yet. 😅 Someday I’ll try again.
@WinglessOne I know right!? It’s so hard to get it at that sweet spot! A few seconds too late and it’s fully cooked. I’m like you too, I like my eggs on the runny side. I’ve mastered soft-boiled and over-easy but this is something else!
I hope you nail it next time you try!
The eggs look so light and fluffy, @JoSometimes almost a souffle!
@Ispend2much6 It’s one of the hardest parts of getting omurice right and one of the rare times where I succeeded.
I have two friends who went to culinary school and both told me that eggs are one of the hardest things to learn.
@JoSometimes That sounds really cool! I'm gonna have to look it up on Youtube.
