Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄
Homemade soup is a tasty treat @heartsmyface. This soup must taste like fall 🍂 🥕. I do love those yummy autumn vegetables 😊
@CynthieLu Yep!!! It’s the perfect way to use an over abundance of carrots!! I ended up having to freeze it in portion sizes. It’ll be good for lazy nights:)
@heartsmyface This soup looks so bright, fresh and delicious. Did you put any seasoning in the soup?
@Mellmars1185 Oh yeah it’s got cumin, paprika, cardamom and thyme and a whole roasted garlic clove! It’s so flavourful!
Canal House Chicken and Rice recipe. I used rosemary olive oil and Seasonello seasoning for flavoring.
Now confess @Ispend2much6 . Are you trying to be homemade 👩🍳 cook full time? Darn all your dishes are looking soooo goooood 👍🌹❤️
@blackkitty2014 I FEEL like I'm a full-time home cook! Not so bad at it yourself. 😍
@greeneyedgirl107 Thanks! It keeps so well as leftovers. Sometime I need to start cooking lunches like that because it’s cheaper and healthier than lunch meat sandwiches.
@Ispend2much6 This looks tasty and healthy. Is that zucchini in the dish?
@Mellmars1185 Yes, onion, carrot, celery, and zucchini. 🙂 This is a very adaptable recipe.
Looks like a yummy crowd pleaser @Ispend2much6 😊 Rosemary would give it a nice little oomph too 😉
I really enjoy flavored salts, I used to make homemade lemon or lime salt often, it was nice to be able to use it to perk up a dish. That salt sounds like it would do nicely on so many thing. Oooh like roasted potatoes 😉 @Ispend2much6
Lemon salt- that’s one step away from gremolata @CynthieLu . I made that one time and used it on sweet potatoes. Sounds weird but it was good.
Last night's dinner - salt cod ravioli with a tomato, tuna & caper sauce.
House-sitting this week and juggling a few work deadlines so I decided to take a quick stroll around the neighborhood to see what I might pick up for dinner. Found this pasta store-and-restaurant in one. So many housemade pastas to choose from, but I went with a pack of salt cod ravioli - there were only 2 packs left and it was touted as being a popular item. They recommended a couple of sauces that would pair well with the ravioli but they were out of their top rec - a tomato based sauce with tuna and capers. So I decided I would try to make my own - it was alright; definitely room for improvement. I may have to swing by the pasta place again to get my hands on their tuna and caper sauce.
