What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

Your popovers are beautiful, @sister13 !  I have never made these nor eaten any, but I'm game to try!  I always associated popovers with English roast beef!  Am I just confused?

Re: What's on your plate?

Thanks!! You are correct, they call them Yorkshire puddings! At my house, we mostly had them either with soup or for breakfast, but I do think that’s common in England to have with steak! @tsavorite

They aren’t really very hard to make, but the right pan helps, and NO PEEKING or jumping (lol). My grandfather used to yell at us kids if he was making them to stay quiet and not run around the house.

Re: What's on your plate?

@sister13  Perfection!  They look so good!

Re: What's on your plate?

Thanks! They are delicious!! @Ispend2much6

Re: What's on your plate?

Perfection @sister13 . Mine always burnt on the top lol 😂

Re: What's on your plate?

Aww! This batch turned out well, but admittedly, the first batch is usually too dense/doesn’t rise and then i just adjust with more liquid. I haven’t found a recipe that works as written, but not sure if ours because of our altitude? And then I don’t make them frequently enough to remember the adjustments I make!

I also do less time at 450 degrees, only like 10-15 mins instead of most recipes call for 20 mins before reducing heat. But we like them a little more doughy/softer than crispy anyway. @blackkitty2014

Re: What's on your plate?

@sister13 those look so perfect!  I honestly haven't ever had popovers but I know that a lot of people love them!  Do you usually make ones that are more sweet or more savory?

Re: What's on your plate?

Popovers have always been a family favorite! My grandfather used to make them, then my mom and now I make them. I make them just plain (my mom was always a purist) and so these are just eggs, milk, flour, butter and salt. Just slightly savory, especially since I use salted butter always. But, I have to say, my husband’s method of eating them with butter, syrup and whipped cream is actually darn good. Somehow even better than pancakes!

Re: What's on your plate?

@sister13 they always LOOK so elegant.

Re: What's on your plate?

Crockpot to the rescue!  Threw in some chicken, used the air-fryer to do some baby potatoes, and rounded it out with a cran-blueberry green salad.

Re: What's on your plate?

@CookieGirl1 you are such a good cook. Love your dishes 👌👏

Re: What's on your plate?

@blackkitty2014 awww, thanks but I'm not a good cook; just a lazy one 🙂

Re: What's on your plate?

That looks delicious! @CookieGirl1

Re: What's on your plate?

Thank you, @sister13!

Re: What's on your plate?

@CookieGirl1Now that's an ingenious idea- potatoes in the air fryer!  Did you put any cooking spray or oil on them?

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 I VERY lightly tossed them with oil, seasoned the heck out of them, and set the air fryer at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes or so.  They turn out slightly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside.

Re: What's on your plate?

Recently threw together a very quick charcuterie board when my bestie and I were getting ready for our HS reunion. It was delicious! I was on the East Coast, so I was thrilled to add some Lebanon Bologna. It’s the best!

Also, went to an in person reception when I was back in DC. Here’s a sampling of desserts!
