Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? ๐
I made almost 400 potstickers and froze them for easy meals. I do this about twice a year. It really doesn't last long in my house because my daughter could eat them everyday plus I always give some away. This time my sister was the one who received some. I also made some Siu Mai but by the time I was done with those I was pooped out and didn't take a photo.

@NinaNee ,
I admire you so much for doing this! My husband and I love potstickers! Yours are gorgeous and I'm sure that they are wonderful!
@NinaNee That is a smart idea to cook in batches. My family loves potstickers. Sometimes i through some in a broth and make a soup ๐ฒ. How long did it take you to make them?
@Mellmars1185 sometimes I just take them and make a soup too, only down side is nobody else in the family likes it that way. I don't really time how long it takes but this time I started around early evening and finished at 11pm. I did make some Sui Mai too. I take my time and watched some documentaries and a lot of YouTube videos. I take my time so I don't burn myself out since I'm the only one doing everything.
@NinaNee That is a lot of work. I am certain it is worth all of your effort!
@NinaNee Oh wow those look amazing. They are great when you need a quick meal or have a cold. My Mom likes to make a bunch and put them in the freezer too.
@SportyGirly125 thanks, it takes a few hours initially but later on it can make life so much easier. I've had it before where I was so busy and I didn't have time to cook and was going to just pick up something and my daughter said she'd rather just have the potstickers that I froze.
@NinaNee These photos are sooo satisfying. I bet they're delicious!
I'd make potstickers if I had the patience to make that many at a time. Last time I made any, I only made 50 and that felt like a huge effort. To make 400, I'd need a couple people to help me fill and seal them so we could get 'em done quicker. This is also the reason I rarely make wontons, ravioli, or tortellini, though ravioli's not quite as labor intensive.
@WinglessOne thanks! I feel you on the amount of time making such stuff like these. I usually just watch some documentaries or a movie while I make them plus I only make them on days I absolutely have nothing to do. Store bought wrappers cut the amount of time I take making them too.
@NinaNee 400?! Holy poop, how long did that take you?
@CookieGirl1 I didn't really time myself. I started early evening sometime and finished around 11pm. I watched a couple of documentaries and a lot of random YouTube videos. I don't rush and just take my time that way I don't feel burnt out since I do everything myself. I didn't make enough meat mixture so I had to make some more too ๐ I usually get myself mentally and physically ready whenever I make big batches like this since it will take me hours. I also made about 100 Sui Mai which was under what I had planned to make. I ran out of meat mixture too but called it a day.
Wow, @NinaNee, you're amazing! I assumed that you must have spent all day doing those.
@NinaNee Those look so delicious. I actually don't think I've ever tried a potsticker before.
@PrettyPaint thanks, potstickers are my daughter's favorite. You have to try it one day. Everyone makes it slightly different but always good.
@NinaNee, these are beautiful!! ๐ Wow! You worked so hard. They look delicious. ๐

@itsfi thank you ๐ if you were close I'd so give you some. If it didn't take me so long I'd be willing to make these more often. The husband has said to me why do I make so much but I feel like if I am making them I mind as well make a lot and freeze them to enjoy whenever. I have now resorted to buying pre-made wrappers to cut time and it still takes long but it's ok because it's so worth it.
Awww, youโre so kind @NinaNee! ๐ฅฐ
I completely understand your making a bunch and freezing them. Thatโs really smart. It takes a great deal of effort to make dumplings / pot stickers and if youโve gone through the effort of gathering all the ingredients and materials and will put in the work to make them, it makes perfect sense to make extra and freeze them.
Those are generously sized potstickers and the folds on yours are exceptional. ๐ I tried a few times and well, letโs just say that no one has a problem if I decide to help out another way when my family makes dumplings. ๐คฃ Mine donโt usually keep their shape and they most definitely do not come close to looking like yours.
@itsfi thank you and trust me, mines use to not look like this. I'm Hmong and I never grew up eating any sort of dumplings. I learned how to make potstickers in my early 20s and I would literally just make it flat with no folds because I couldn't do it. After a couple years and watching many YouTube videos on how to fold different types of dumplings along with eating many deformed shapes I've reached the shape I fold it at now. You will get there, just takes time and patience.
Awww, thanks @NinaNee! You have such patience and dedication to master the art of making dumplings. Your daughter is lucky to have a mom who does this for her. That's really sweet.
Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Your friends and family are so lucky ๐คฉ Those are beautiful @NinaNee I bet they are delicious too *drool* ๐
Thank you @CynthieLu everyone says they taste good.
