What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

@CookieGirl1  There are different sizes of boxes; the chicken is good, but I think it's the Farmer Focus brand that can be found in other stores in our area.  I like that the beef is so healthy. I don't like the pre-formed burgers though.

Re: What's on your plate?

@Ispend2much6 Looks so yummy 😋

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125  Fresh ingredients make everything better. 🙂

My radishes and carrots struggled cause I’m an amateur and didn’t loosen the soil deep enough with the radishes and I planted the carrots too close so they were crowded.  I also didn’t know to prune the carrot tops so all the energy would go toward the carrots and not the foliage.  The carrots all shouldered very small but they’re sweet and going into a salad.  The radishes grew long and thin above ground, so again, salad for a little peppery goodness.
I made the best of it though cause I minced the carrot and radish tops and made a lovely pesto with cashews garlic, lemon juice and Parmesan.  It took me about an hour to clean and prep cause I did it by hand :). I know I could have used the food processor but I felt like doing it the way it was originally done.  Plus i read the flavours and oils are released more effectively with hand chopping.
I think pasta for dinner?   I haven’t thought that far ahead but I seems like the obvious choice. I could also use it on avacado toast!  I really ought to look up other uses for pesto.

I also have another cup of carrot tops and a large bowl of radish leaves.  I think I’ll be cooking them in garlic and butter the way I do with kale:)

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface fresh and delicious!

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyfaceThis looks so good and fresh!  And I've heard the same about chopping herbs by hand, especially when making parsley salad or tabouleh.

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface, I think that would be so tasty with pasta. 😋

Other uses for pesto - salad dressing, dip (mix with yogurt or sour cream), as sauce for pizza, over fish (or veggies, or chicken …). I once went to a dinner where the host and hostess served baked Brie with some homemade pesto drizzled over it. 🤤

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi  Pesto dip sounds amazing!   Maybe that’s what I’ll do if it lasts until dinner:)  It’s too hot to cook but dipping cold foods in pesto sounds appealing:)

Re: What's on your plate?

My Aunt made the family some Chinese pastries 🤤 3 trays worth.

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi She is seriously the sweetest.

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125  Oh my gosh she made you egg tarts????  you’re so lucky!!!  ha, three trays of pastries sounds like no cooking for a couple days😆

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface My uncle does cuts and or colors for my whole family and whenever he comes over she bakes us goodies.  Everything is so fresh and taste so yummy.

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125  Cuts and colors?  Hair?

 I KNOW bought ones are not nearly as good as homemade ones!  My first egg tart was homemade at one of my friends houses in highschool🥹.  Also made by her grandmother. I sought them out everywhere for a while after that which wasn’t an easy task.  Ha, i used to go to this one restaurant JUST to order egg tarts but they weren’t as good as the original.
I actually forgot they existed until just now and now I want one!

Re: What's on your plate?

@heartsmyface My other Aunt has cut my hair ever since I was little and she used to dye my hair any color I wanted.  Then after I went to college, I went to my Uncle and he has been the one to straight perm, cut and color my hair.  He even cuts my husband, son and daughter's hair.  It's cool because I never have to pay full price.

Re: What's on your plate?

@SportyGirly125 ,

Lucky you!  These looks so delicious!  I would volunteer to help you eat these, no problem!

Re: What's on your plate?
